UNILEVER BUYS AND SELLS FRENCH BUSINESSES
Unilever, through its French subsidiary Astra Calve, has
agreed to sell its seed oil business in France together with
the trademark Frial, to Eridania Beghin-Say through its French
subsidiary Lesieur Alimentaire. In addition the Fruit d'Or,
Equilibre and Epi d'Or trademarks will be available to
Eridania Beghin-Say for liquid seed oils under a licence
agreement limited to four years.
In a separate deal, Eridania Beghin-Say will sell its frying
fat business, under the trademark Vegetaline, to Unilever.
Terms of the transactions, which will take effect on 1 March
1998, have not been disclosed.
