HARRISBURG, Pa., Feb. 19, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Andreozzi + Foote, a national law firm dedicated to representing survivors of sexual abuse, has filed a civil lawsuit against Yellow Breeches EMS, Inc. on behalf of a Pennsylvania resident, identified as A.R., who alleges that she was sexually abused as a minor by former Chief Douglas Shields. The lawsuit, filed in the Court of Common Pleas of Cumberland County (Case No. 2025-01813-0), seeks justice and accountability for the traumatic experiences endured by the plaintiff.

The complaint alleges that Shields engaged in a pattern of grooming and sexual abuse while holding a position of power at Yellow Breeches EMS, Inc. The alleged abuse occurred between March 2021 and December 2021, during which time A.R. participated in the organization's Ride Along Program. Shields has since been criminally convicted for statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, and related offenses.

Veronica N. Hubbard, Esq., of Andreozzi + Foote, stated, "Our client trusted this organization to provide a safe and supportive environment. Instead, she was subjected to predatory behavior by an individual in a position of authority. We are committed to holding Yellow Breeches EMS accountable for failing to protect our client and for allowing such abuse to occur."

The lawsuit asserts that Yellow Breeches EMS, Inc. was negligent in its duty to protect minors, including failing to implement proper child abuse prevention policies, adequately supervise employees, and take action despite being aware of Shield's inappropriate behavior. The suit seeks damages in excess of arbitration limits, including punitive damages, for the significant harm caused to the plaintiff.
