               Announcement regarding Technical Services Agreement


Ashanti announces that as of 1st March 2003 it has terminated the Technical
Services Agreement (the "TSA") with Lonmin plc ("Lonmin"). Under the TSA, the
services of Mr Sam Jonah, the Chief Executive and Group Managing Director of the
Ashanti Group, were provided to Ashanti by Lonmin.

The Ashanti Group has today entered into a service agreement with Mr. Jonah
starting 1st March 2003.
