LISBON--Portugal's government on Thursday launched an offer to sell its remaining 4.1% stake in EDP-Energias de Portugal SA (EDP.LB) to institutional investors.

The offering opened immediately and has as bookrunners Morgan Stanley and Portugal's Caixa Geral de Depositos, the government said in a statement.

Shares of EDP, which last exchanged hands at EUR2.422, have been suspended from trading.

Based on that share price, the value of the government's stake is of about 367 million euros ($493.9 million).
