Statoil Starts Drilling Mariner Field in U.K. North Sea

Statoil ASA (STL.OS) said Friday drilling has started on the
Mariner field in the U.K. North Sea, with the first oil expected to
be produced in 2018.
The international energy company, which is headquartered in
Stavanger, Norway, is operator of the well through Statoil (U.K.)
Ltd. which has 65.11% equity. The field is expected to have a life
of over 30 years.
The Mariner field is located on the East Shetland Platform of
the U.K. North Sea and has reserves estimated at more than 250
million barrels of oil, with an average plateau production of
around 55,000 barrels a day.
