As a company committed to a goal of improving the health of the
communities it serves by making it easy for people to achieve their
best health, Humana’s race activities in Chicago will focus on
bringing the themes of health and wellness together with fun,
enjoyment and inspiration. Humana is implementing a series of
pre-race and race-day activities designed to give runners, walkers
and supporters that extra boost of encouragement and an opportunity
to share their own personal stories to inspire others to
#rockyourhealth.
“The Rock ‘n’ Roll series has such a rich history of bringing
people together from all walks of life with inspiring stories,”
said Bill Snyder, Humana’s Market Vice President in Illinois.
“Humana believes everyone has the ability to rock their health and
by doing so - inspire others to #rockyourhealth. We want to be able
to share stories of those participating in the hopes that it serves
as inspiration and encouragement for others to develop a passion to
get up, get out there and get active.”
Race Weekend Activities
To support runners and walkers who are participating in this
year’s race, Humana has unveiled the Humana Vitality Cheer Squad, a
website where fans and families can submit words of encouragement
and cheers for anyone running the half marathon. These cheers will
be displayed on a giant, digital Cheer Board during the last mile
of the race and will be synced with each runner’s bib to ensure
their cheers go live when they cross the 12-mile mark. For more
information and to submit cheers, visit
www.humanavitalitycheersquad.com.
In addition, Humana will have an in-person Cheer Squad lining
the last mile of the race to give runners and walkers a standing
ovation and provide a much needed extra boost to finish strong.
Humana will also be working to inspire runners, walkers,
spectators and even people across the country at the Humana Rock
‘n’ Roll Chicago Half Marathon Expo. Here, Humana will open its
story telling booth, where runners and walkers will have a chance
to share personal stories about their passion for running by
leveraging the #rockyourhealth hashtag. In doing so, each
#rockyourhealth story will be shared via Humana’s social media
channels to inspire and challenge others to share their own
personal journeys in achieving their best health.
The Humana FatHead photo printing station, which allows anyone
to take a face photo and print it on poster-size paper – perfect
for cheering on the sidelines of the race – will also be available
for public use, in addition to its free digital health quizzes and
biometric screenings. More information about this year’s Expo can
be found at
http://www.runrocknroll.com/chicago/schedule/health-fitness-expo-day-1/.
In addition to having a great race, race participants can do it
for a great cause with Humana and Charity Miles. Runners and
walkers can download the free Charity Miles app for Android or
iPhone, select one of 30+ charities, and for every mile logged
during the race, Charity Miles will donate 25 cents to the selected
cause.
