& Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) has selected Symbol MC9090
rugged handheld mobile computers and VC5090 vehicle/fixed-mount
mobile computers to increase productivity and efficiencies
throughout its worldwide retail and warehouse operations. (Logo:

facilities worldwide, in more than 30 countries, five U.S.
territories and 49 states, AAFES provides active duty national
guard and reserve members, military retirees and their families
with quality, brand name merchandise and services at competitively
low prices. AAFES retail sales in 2005 totaled in excess of $8
billion. AAFES will deploy the Symbol MC9090 rugged mobile computer
to improve the management of merchandise across its retail
locations with inventory management, price verification, and
shipping and receiving applications. AAFES also selected the Symbol
VC5090 vehicle/fixed-mount mobile computer to optimize operations
and increase efficiencies in its distribution centers worldwide.
The VC5090 mobile computers will be used during picking and packing
for automated and accurate inventory tracking, and will help
streamline shipping and receiving processes. AAFES also selected
Symbol's Service from the Start Gold program which provides
enhanced product support and extends coverage beyond normal wear
and tear to include the repair of accidentally damaged components
such as screens, keypads, and plastics. This comprehensive coverage
virtually eliminates surprise repair costs and provides investment
protection and reduces the total cost of ownership. "Symbol's
