TA is history only, but does define various price points where support or resistance occur with some repetitive fashion, so are useful tools for trading entries and exits. Not perfect, but certainly better than just plunging in cold water.

With expiring options around strike, the price goes towards intrinsic worth, hence the call writers have little to no "hedge", so the remaining and price controlling persons are the mm's who see the book...that's the house advantage. Calls writers will cover.
