According to a recent study performed by Mike Luca at Harvard Business School, a restaurant will enjoy an increase in revenue of anywhere from 5% to 9% when their Yep Score increases. While we were already fully aware that a negative review can easily result in a severe drop in customer attention, but now we know that by the same measure, the opposite is also true.

Positive ratings are the best way to attract a new base of customers that will have a great benefit to improving revenue and growth. With this as our final goal, let’s take a look at some of the top things restaurants can do to increase their Yelp rating.

The DO-NOT-DO List

But, before we can jump into a practical list of what to do, it is a good idea to think of all the things that could negatively impact your Yelp Rating.

First rule, never pay anyone to make a review for, Not only is that unethical it also a waste of time and money. The whole nature of Yelp is to weed out false reviews and remove them.

Do not do anything to incentivize your customers into leaving good Yelp reviews. This is a direct violation of your contract and against the guidelines of the company. This is also potentially illegal and can place your business in an especially bad light.

You will find in the guidelines provided by Yelp that you should never directly ask your customers to leave a review. This seems like a harsh law that makes taking full advantage of Yelp and impossibility, but it is a rule. Like it or not compliance is key to making the most of your Yelp reviews.

Now that we know full well what is not acceptable. It is time to focus on what good practices look like.

1. Create a Great Customer Experience

Obviously, the single most important thing you can do is bend backwards to make your customer experience something noteworthy. No matter your products or services, you want to make sure the prices are fair and attractive. You will also want to make doubly sure that your customer service is also friendly and helpful.

The fact of the matter is without this important point, you could get the next three points right on and still not make an impact with your customer pool.

2. Engage with Your Customers

So, do you have a great product or are offering an incredible service? Well, what do you know? That’s simple. You want everyone to recognize what you are doing. A good way to begin will be to start interacting with your clients in person. This I not just when they show up at your physical location, but every chance you get with an on-point digital marketing service.

Always show your clients and customers an insane amount of gratitude for their patronage and suggest new products and services you are sure they would like. You can also send out regular emails, deals and make announcements about special upcoming events.

You know your business is awesome and just what your clients need, now you got to get out there and tell them this as well and you will get good Yelp reviews according to velseoity.com

3. Make it Easy for Customers to Leave Reviews

In the above mentioned steps we covered some important best practices that provide the most important foundation for getting good reviews. But, now that you have done so, you need to make it possible for your clients to make the reviews.

Keeping in mind that you are not allowed to ask your clients outright to leave a Yelp review, there are still some ways to push them in that direction. A good way to do this is to include the Yelp logo and associated badges in your business and online accounts. This way your customers are only a click away from making a review when they visit your online locations.

You can request a “Find Us on Yelp” sticker that you can place in a strategic location in your shop window or restaurant reception. There are no rules about requesting reviews on other sites like Google, Facebook or any other social media platform, so go right ahead.

4. Treat Reviews as a Form of Customer Service

The final and potentially the most important step to address is to interact with the customers that take the time to leave a review.

Customers already expect their comments and reviews for a company to be answered and addressed. But, it is equally important to thank customers for their positive reviews.

The first thing to do will be to claim your pages on all review sites you can. Make sure that all comments connected to your business are addressed and rewarded promptly and effectively.

Never forget the study accomplished by Harvard as primarily focused on Yelp, but there are many other sites that provide this same advantage. Platforms like Google and Facebook are also a terrific place for your reviews. All you have to do is apply the copious advice found.
