Braemar’s Directors

I’ll need some help in analysing the capabilities and degree of share owner orientation of the directors. I haven’t met them yet, so if you know anything please would you make a comment.

The sort of thing we’re looking for was expressed well by a subscriber who wrote to me: “A shipbroker can plan a fast turnaround for a bulk carrier in and out of Rotterdam but does the Braemar agent actually get down to the dock and see why a foul up might happen and understand the actions involved to unload and load a cargo?”

James Kidwell (55) CEO

With a background in accounting Kidwell rose to FD of Boosey and Hawkes and Financial Controller of Carlton Communications.

He moved to become FD of Braemar in 2002, and CEO ten years later.

He is remunerated very well for a chief of a company with a MCap of only £78m (over £0.5m). Number of Braemar shares held at February 2016: 114,625. Spent £39.5k on buying shares January 2017 at 249p

Louise Evans (43) FD

A career at Ernst & Young followed by a couple of small company FD roles. Joined Braemar in 2015 as FD. Remuneration £298k. Number of shares at February 2016: none. Spent £49.8k on buying shares January 2017 at 249p

David Moorhouse (70) Chairman (non-executive) since 2015

Former executive chairman of Lloyds Register. Former Chairman and Chief Executive of the Process Division of the Kvaerner Group, Deputy Chairman of the Department for Trade and Industry’s Offshore Supplies. Remuneration £82k Shareholding at February 2016: none. Spent £124k on buying shares January 2017 at 252p.

Alastair Farley (71) NED

International lawyer. Remuneration £45k. Shareholding in Feb 2016: 13,366. Spent £49.5k on buying shares January 2017 at 247.5p

Jürgen Breuer (51) NED

City-based dealer and broker for institutions in fixed income, financial instruments, equity and commodities. Joined Braemar Board in 2014. Remuneration £42k. Shareholding at February 2016: 11,000. Spent £48k on buying shares January 2017 at 241p.

Mark Tracey (53) NED

Healthcare industry and Goldman Sachs. Joined Braemar Board in 2014 Remuneration £42k. Shareholding at February 2016: 20,425.

Observations
