Euro-zone manufacturing PMI registered a rise in December

In December, the final manufacturing PMI in the Euro-zone rose to a level of 54.90, compared to a reading of 53.70 in the prior month. Markets were expecting the manufacturing PMI to climb to a level of 54.90. The preliminary figures had also indicated a rise to 54.90.

German manufacturing PMI climbed in December

The final manufacturing PMI recorded a rise to 55.60 in December, in Germany, compared to market expectations of a rise to a level of 55.50. Manufacturing PMI had recorded a reading of 54.30 in the prior month. The preliminary figures had indicated an advance to 55.50.

French manufacturing PMI rose in December

The final manufacturing PMI in France rose to a level of 53.50 in December, compared to a level of 51.70 in the previous month. The preliminary figures had also indicated a rise to 53.50. Markets were anticipating manufacturing PMI to advance to a level of.

Italian manufacturing PMI climbed in December

In Italy, the manufacturing PMI rose to a level of 53.20 in December, compared to a level of 52.20 in the prior month. Markets were anticipating the manufacturing PMI to advance to a level of 52.30.

Spanish manufacturing PMI recorded a rise in December

The manufacturing PMI in Spain recorded a rise to 55.30 in December, higher than market expectations of an advance to a level of 54.60. In the prior month, the manufacturing PMI had recorded a reading of 54.50.

US Chicago Fed PMI index declined in December

In December, the Chicago Fed PMI index recorded a drop to 54.60 in the US, compared to a level of 57.60 in the previous month. Markets were anticipating the Chicago Fed PMI index to ease to 56.80.

Chinese Caixin/Markit manufacturing PMI index recorded an unexpected rise in December

In December, Caixin/Markit manufacturing PMI index in China rose unexpectedly to 51.90, higher than market expectations of a steady reading. In the prior month, Caixin/Markit manufacturing PMI index had recorded a level of 50.90.
