UK manufacturing PMI unexpectedly advanced in March

In March, the manufacturing PMI in the UK recorded an unexpected rise to a level of 55.10, compared to a revised level of 55.00 in the prior month. Markets were expecting the manufacturing PMI to fall to 54.70.

Euro-zone manufacturing PMI declined in March

In March, the final manufacturing PMI registered a drop to 56.60 in the Euro-zone, in line with market expectations. The manufacturing PMI had recorded a level of 58.60 in the previous month. The preliminary figures had also indicated a drop to 56.60.

German retail sales surprisingly dropped in February

In Germany, retail sales unexpectedly dropped 0.70% on a MoM basis in February, lower than market expectations for a rise of 0.70%. In the previous month, retail sales had registered a revised drop of 0.30%.

German retail sales rose less than expected in February

In February, retail sales in Germany recorded a rise of 1.30% on an annual basis, lower than market expectations for a rise of 2.40%. In the previous month, retail sales had climbed by a revised 2.50%.

German manufacturing PMI fell in March

In Germany, the final manufacturing PMI eased to 58.20 in March, compared to a level of 60.60 in the previous month. The preliminary figures had indicated a fall to 58.40. Market anticipation was for manufacturing PMI to fall to a level of 58.40.

French manufacturing PMI declined in March

In France, the final manufacturing PMI registered a drop to 53.70 in March, compared to market expectations of a drop to 53.60. The preliminary figures had recorded a drop to 53.60. In the previous month, manufacturing PMI had registered a reading of 55.90.

Italian manufacturing PMI eased in March

The manufacturing PMI fell to a level of 55.10 in March, in Italy, compared to a level of 56.80 in the previous month. Markets were expecting the manufacturing PMI to fall to 55.50.

Number of people unemployed in Spain dropped in March

The number of people unemployed fell by 47.70K in Spain, in March, higher than market anticipations of a decline of 47.50K. Number of people unemployed had registered a fall of 6.30K in the previous month.

Spanish manufacturing PMI dropped in March

In March, the manufacturing PMI in Spain eased to 54.80, compared to a level of 56.00 in the prior month. Markets were anticipating the manufacturing PMI to drop to 54.70.

Swiss SVME manufacturing PMI dropped in March

The SVME manufacturing PMI recorded a drop to 60.30 in March, in Switzerland, compared to a reading of 65.50 in the prior month Markets were anticipating the SVME manufacturing PMI to drop to 64.30.

Swiss real retail sales eased in February

In Switzerland, real retail sales dropped 0.20% on an annual basis, in February. Real retail sales had recorded a revised drop of 0.40% in the prior month.

Japanese Nikkei Japan services PMI declined in March

The Nikkei Japan services PMI in Japan recorded a drop to 50.90 in March. In the previous month, the Nikkei Japan services PMI had recorded a reading of 51.70.

Japanese Nikkei Japan composite PMI slid in March

Nikkei Japan composite PMI recorded a drop to 51.30 in Japan, in March, compared to a level of 52.20 in the prior month.

Chinese Caixin/Markit services PMI index unexpectedly dropped in March

The Caixin/Markit services PMI index in China dropped unexpectedly to a level of 52.30 in March, compared to a level of 54.20 in the previous month. Market expectation was for the Caixin/Markit services PMI index to advance to 54.50.

Chinese Caixin composite PMI dropped in March

In March, the Caixin composite PMI recorded a drop to 51.80 in China. The Caixin composite PMI had registered a reading of 53.30 in the previous month.
