US producer price rose less than expected in July
On a MoM basis in July, producer price index climbed 0.10% in the US, lower than market expectations for a rise of 0.20%. Index had climbed 0.30% in the previous month.
US initial jobless claims eased unexpectedly in the last week
The seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims in the US unexpectedly eased to a level of 213.00 K in the week ended 04 August 2018, lower than market expectations of a rise to 220.00 K. Initial jobless claims had registered a revised level of 219.00 K in the previous week.
Canadian new housing price index advanced as expected in June
In June, on a MoM basis, the new housing price index in Canada registered a rise of 0.10%, meeting market expectations. The index had registered an unchanged reading in the prior month.
Canadian housing starts declined in July
In July, the seasonally adjusted housing starts in Canada registered a drop to 206.30 K, compared to a revised level of 246.20 K in the prior month. Market expectation was for housing starts to ease to 219.00 K.
Japanese tertiary industry index declined more than expected in June
In Japan, the tertiary industry index recorded a drop of 0.50% on a MoM basis in June, compared to a revised rise of 0.20% in the previous month. Markets were anticipating the index to drop 0.30%.
