Euro-zone consumer confidence index dropped in January
The flash consumer confidence index in the Euro-zone registered a drop to a level of -7.90 in January, compared to market expectations of a drop to a reading of -6.50. The index had registered a level of -6.20 in the previous month.
US housing price index advanced more than expected in November
The housing price index in the US recorded a rise of 0.40% on a MoM basis, in November, more than market expectations for an advance of 0.30%. In the prior month, the index had registered a revised similar rise.
US mortgage applications eased in the last week
On a weekly basis, the US mortgage applications registered a drop of 2.70% in the week ended 18 January 2019. In the previous week, mortgage applications had risen 13.50%.
Canadian retail sales fell more than expected in November
In Canada, retail sales dropped 0.90% on a MoM basis, in November, more than market expectations for a fall of 0.60%. In the prior month, retail sales had recorded a revised rise of 0.20%.
Japanese manufacturing PMI slid in January
The preliminary manufacturing PMI in Japan registered a drop to a level of 50.00 in January. In the prior month, the index had registered a reading of 52.60.
