UK Halifax house price index advanced more than expected in April
In the UK, the Halifax house price index registered a rise of 1.10% on a monthly basis, in April, compared to a drop of 1.60% in the previous month. Market anticipation was for the index to rise 0.10%.
German industrial production unexpectedly climbed in March
The seasonally adjusted industrial production in Germany unexpectedly climbed 0.50% in March on a monthly basis, more than market expectations for a fall of 0.50%. In the prior month, industrial production had advanced by a revised 0.40%.
Swiss unemployment rate remained steady in April
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Switzerland remained unchanged at 2.40% in April, in line with market expectations.
US mortgage applications rose in the last week
On a weekly basis, mortgage applications in the US registered a rise of 2.70% in the week ended 03 May 2019. In the previous week, mortgage applications had dropped 4.30%.
