US annualised GDP rose more than expected in 4Q 2022

In the US, the annualised GDP rose 2.9% in 4Q 2022, compared to a rise of 3.20% in the prior quarter. Markets were expecting GDP to rise to 2.60%.

US goods trade deficit widened in December

In the US, goods trade deficit widened to $90.30 billion in the previous month, compared to a deficit of $84.10 billion in the previous month.

US initial jobless claims unexpectedly declined in the week ended 20 January 2022

In the US, initial jobless claims unexpectedly dropped to 186.00 K in the week ended 20 January 2022, compared to a revised level of 192.00 K jobs in the prior month.

US Kansas Fed manufacturing activity unexpectedly climbed in January

In the US, the Kansas Fed manufacturing activity unexpectedly rose to -4.00 in January, compared to a revised -6.00 in the prior month.

US durable goods order advanced more than expected in December

In the US, durable goods orders climbed 5.60% in December, compared to a revised drop of 1.70% in the previous month. Market expectations were for durable goods order to rise 2.50%.
