UK public sector net borrowing deficit narrowed in November
In the UK, public sector net borrowing deficit narrowed to £13.40 billion in November, compared to a revised deficit of £15.10 billion in the prior month.
US annualised GDP grew less than anticipated in 3Q23
In the US, annualised GDP advanced 4.90% in 3Q23, compared to a rise of 2.10% in the previous quarter. Markets were expecting GDP to rise 5.20%.
US initial jobless claims rose less than forecasted in the week ended 15 December 2023
In the US, initial jobless claims advanced to 205.00K in the week ended 15 December 2023, compared to a level of 203.00K in the prior week. Market anticipations were for jobless claims to rise to 215.00K.
US Philadelphia Fed manufacturing index unexpectedly dropped in December
In the US, the Philadelphia Fed manufacturing index unexpectedly fell to -10.50 in December, compared to a level of -5.90 in the previous month.
