A month or so ago I signed up for Obama’s emails and…
…they make it out to be a very clear partisan battle between the haves and the have-nots. Obama represents the have-nots of which there are far more! It is all about the evil billionaires and the tax breaks they would get under Romney, thus taking food out of the mouths of the have-nots (at least by implication). There have also been statements to the effect that building wealth is a group effort with a huge team of have-nots giving their life blood so that the evil billionaires prosper. There is some truth in this (the best lies usually contain some truth!) but it is usually the driving ambition of one man/woman, or a small number of such, who make it all happen.
I am finding these emails quite bizarre (only in America!), even if my para-phrasing takes a somewhat extreme view. I have today signed up for Romney’s campaign emails as a contrast (you would need to make up a zip code)
In the markets FTSE and the DAX are now more stable and there has been a changing of the guard with US markets now looking more negative, but still no confirmation of key peaks but maybe we are now all waiting for the US elections to be out of the way – the date is Tuesday 6 November
