articles like this don't help babyf?------9 Reasons You May Want To Avoid Drinking Almond Milk
9 Reasons You May Want To Avoid Drinking Almond Milk
© Provided by The Hearty Soul
For vegans, people with dairy allergies, or anyone who dislikes regular cow milk, today is a great day to be alive. There are so many milk alternatives and they are becoming increasingly available in coffee shops and restaurants. Grocery stores are stocked with varieties like soy, oat, rice, and coconut milk. Plus, many health food stores have an even larger selection, including walnut, hemp, and pea milk. But one type seems to tower over them all in terms of popularity: almond milk. However, popularity doesn't necessarily equate to quality. Although almond milk can be delicious and versatile, it may not be ideal for everyone depending on their food needs. Here's an honest look on almond milk.
The Pros of Almond Milk

Let's start with the positives. Almond milk is made from whole almonds, or almond butter, and water. It contains fewer calories than cow's milk and less fat, while being a natural source of vitamin E. It can be enjoyed as a one-to-one substitute to dairy milk when it comes to cereal, smoothies, baked goods etc. However, there are some potential caveats to keep in mind.

Lacks protein

Protein is crucial for the body, especially when it comes to bone structure, enzyme production, and muscle growth. A cup of cow's milk contains 8 grams but almond milk contains only one. But if you want a dairy-free alternative high in protein, soy milk contains 7 grams per cup.

Low in nutrients

Despite almonds being considered a superfood, their nutrition value does not transfer to their milk version because it is made up of mostly water. One cup contains only 39 calories, 3 grams of fat, and 1 gram of protein, as previously mentioned. For better nutrition, you can look for almond milk brands that contain 7–15% almonds or are fortified with various vitamins and minerals. Alternatively, you can opt for other non-dairy milk alternatives like soy, pea, or oat.

Unsuitable for infants

Because almond milk is low on nutrients, it is not enough to sustain an infant's growth. In fact, cow's or plant-based milks may prevent iron absorption for babies under one year of age. Experts advise feeding infants only breastmilk or formula until they turn 4 to 6 months, which is when they can start on solid food. Parents who don't want to feed their child dairy should consult their pediatrician for recommendations for non-dairy baby formula.

Richard Scolyer's journey began in May of 2023 during his travels across Europe for some medical conferences. A seizure in Poland led to the discovery of an aggressive glioblastoma in his brain. This marked the onset of an uphill battle against a previously unbeatable adversary. An ominously grim prognosis was laid out for the esteemed pathologist. But undeterred by the bleak outlook, Scolyer journeyed to defy the odds, using his expertise and resources to make a way forward to potential salvation.

Processed almond milk can have additives like sugar, salt, gums, lecithin, and emulsifiers. The latter ingredients are considered safe although some people choose to avoid them. Meanwhile, the negative health effects of too much sugar has been well-documented. Therefore, it's better to choose unsweetened versions of non-dairy milk.

Unsuitable for people with allergies

As most people can assume, almond milk (along with hazelnut milk, walnut milk, cashew milk, etc.) is not suitable for people with nut allergies.

Not environmentally friendly

People who choose to avoid dairy products due to environmental concerns might want to rethink their almond milk. When it comes to a product's environmental impact, there are four factor to consider: greenhouse gas emissions, land use, freshwater use, and eutrophication (the pollution of ecosystems with excess nutrients). Compared to rice, oat, and soy, almond milk uses considerably more freshwater.

Not good in coffee

© Provided by The Hearty Soul
There are many types of almond milks and not all are good for coffee. Some brands are not suitable for coffee or tea because the milk components split when poured into hot liquid. It may also fail to foam as well as cow's milk. So make sure you use barista-syle almond milk or creamier non-dairy milks like coconut or oat.

Difficult to cook with

Moreover, if an almond milk splits in coffee, it's likely to do the same when cooking. In fact, heating certain types can turn them bitter. Therefore, you should add almond milk toward the end of the process if you're adding it to the soup or the like, or find a almond milk brand - or other non-dairy milk - better suited for your chosen recipes.

'' increases Else Nutrition’s shelf presence ''' and she is exited agin. What a ridiculous strategy.
Dear madam CEO: Will you ever realise that if you spread yourself to thin you will endup covering nothing.
All these shelves mean increase inventories (that means increase carrying cost) and since people do not know what these boxes are all about, they do not even look at them (that means revenues only increase marginally).
Suggestion: Reduce the number of shelves you keep inventories on, thereby reduce your costs and use these saving to advertise and inform markets you are in so those seing our boxes no what they are about.
How can you not understand that your strategy leads to failure?

Probably ... unless our stubborn incompetent leader accept to face the thruth.
However our dreamer dream of favourable outcome at FDA and believe that will change the situation completely. She most likely doesn't understand that people generally do not buy any product they know nothing about.
Our CEO (and her researcher experience) believes that the quality of a product is THE KEY to success. She obviously cannot figure out that great products never did succeed even if they were better than competition (Example: Betamax lost the videotape format war).
Product qualification is ONE PART OF what leads to success not THE REASON why product succeed.
Unfortunately our CEO does'nt accept that (It's probably why she did quit her previous job to create Else"

No one can be surprised. Our CEO is stubbornly repeating the same error over and over again and the result is the same ovor and over again.
One has to wonder if anyone will be able to let her admit she cannot keep dreaming of a success mismanaging the company full time.
Till then, if ever, our CEO and her board made of scientific members will keep dreaming and will gradually see their company gradually head to an unnecessary bancrupt.
I assume, our CEO will keep adding shelves, increase her dormant inventory on shelves spread all around the world, CUT expenses instead of MANAGING expenses and manage her company as if it only was a lab aimed at creating great products destined at dying on shelves.
What a shame, considering the potential !!!

Else Nutrition Down More Than 10% As Narrows Q1 Loss, Revenue Falls 27%
10:11 AM EDT, 05/15/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Else Nutrition Holdings (BABY.TO) was at last look down more than 8% on Wednesday after it reported a first-quarter net loss of $5.5 million, or $0.04 per share, narrower than a loss of $7.9 million, or $0.07 per share, a year earlier.

The decrease in the net loss was mainly because of a reduction in the operation expenses and the Cost of Goods Sold expenses, the company said.

Revenue for the quarter ended March 31 was $2.1 million, down 27% from $2.9 million a year earlier. The decrease was primarily due to delays in shipments of products to retailers. The company said Amazon sales increased by about 92% and 330% over the same quarter last year in the US and Canada, respectively.

Among other highlights, operating expenses for Q1 2024 decreased 15% to $4.2 million compared to $4.9 million in Q1 2023. EBITDA loss for Q1 was $4.1 million versus a loss of $4.5 million a year earlier.

The company's shares were down more than 10% on last look Wednesday in Canada.

Honestly, I do not understand what our CEO intends to do but she obviously is not progressing whatsoever. I did enter in this affair almost 5 years ago, it then seemed a fantastic opportunity and with time (from the beguinning) it did look as a great opportunity. Since then our controlling CEO has made a fool of herself and the maket left her and her dream. Even now, the woman is so stubborn (to be polite) that she keeps managing the outfit as a totally incompetent dreamer.
Fortunately at the beguinning and for the first months (within the first 2 years) I was accumulating thru a lot of trading activity selling high and buying low. Right now I own shares at a low net cost (about35 cents) and sit on them, refusing to believe the woman will be stupid enough to go bancrupt with plenty of boxes on shelves all over the place. That inventory and the numerous patents she acquired in the early days must be worth more than current PPS, particularly in ongoing market situation.
Till then, we will have to live with a CEO proud of herself generating few million $$$ in a market worth tens of billions. Who knows, maybe ... one day ... someone ... will be able to make this woman accept that she doesn't have what's needed to succeed. Who knows, maybe she then will acquire a partner bringning her the skills she doesn't have or sell out if she ever figures out she is making a fool of herself.

Are we sure management has not pissed off Danone with absurd requests?
Can it be that Danone chose to acquire Functional Formulaire to develop the formula using their composition instead of getting something ready?
I mean, it could be easier for them to just acquire Else and start selling their products which are already been distributed.
It all depends on the actual negotiation, if any now

Our CEO knows about the quality of our offerings (I dare believing) but she is to incompetent to figure out that building a company with no manufacturing and no marketing cannot succeed, whatever the product she developped. This being said, she will prefer to fail or be stolen of the company before her ego accept that she is not qualified to succeed.

Toddler milk is ‘potentially harmful,’ AAP warns amid calls for stricter regulations
Toddler beverages ‘undermine breastfeeding and child health,’ the World Health Organization claims
By Shiv Sudhakar Fox News
Published April 22, 2024 5:30am EDT

Families still affected by baby formula shortages
Pennsylvania mother of two Racheal Devore demanding answers from manufacturers as she struggles to find the formula needed for her baby, says prices going up.

Toddler milk products have grown into a multibillion-dollar global business, despite warnings from health authorities that the benefits of this milk formula are unproven.

The products are marketed with claims of improving brain development or immune function, but the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) warned in an Oct. 2023 report that toddler formula is "unnecessary and potentially harmful to young children."

"For healthy toddlers without a specific medical diagnosis, there is no evidence of a need [for] or benefit from toddler milk," Dr. Jenelle Ferry, a neonatologist and director of feeding, nutrition and infant development at Pediatrix Medical Group in Tampa, Florida, told Fox News Digital in an interview.

INFECTIONS FROM POTENTIALLY DEADLY BACTERIA IN BABY FORMULA ADDED TO CDC WATCHLIST

In spite of these warnings, toddler milk has grown into a $20 billion worldwide business, according to a recent report.

"It is disappointing that regulations have not been strengthened, given package claims and marketing messages that imply toddler milks are beneficial, or even necessary, for a toddler’s healthy growth," Fran Fleming-Milici, PhD, director of marketing initiatives at the Rudd Center for Food Policy and Health at the University of Connecticut, told Fox News Digital.

Infant formula vs. toddler milk
Most infants in the U.S. receive some or all of their nutrition from formula, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Standard infant formula can be supplemented with appropriate solid foods at around 4 to 6 months of age, ensuring intake of essential nutrients like iron, calcium and zinc, the AAP said in a previous statement.

BREASTFEEDING BAN: GEORGIA MOTHER IS TOLD SHE CAN’T NURSE HER BABY AT WATERPARK, SPARKING DEBATE

Infant formula is regulated under The Infant Formula Act, which requires that the products meet nutritional requirements as the only source for babies through the first 12 months of age, the statement added.

If a toddler beverage is intended for infants younger than 12 months, the product must comply with the FDA’s infant formula regulations in addition to all other applicable food regulations, an FDA spokesperson told Fox News Digital.

Toddler milk
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) warned in an Oct. 2023 report that toddler formula is "unnecessary and potentially harmful to young children." Advocates for the formula, however, feel differently. (iStock)

There are two different types of toddler milk on the market: transition formulas for infants and toddlers 9 months to 24 months old, and toddler milk for children 12 months to 36 months age, according to a previous research report from the NYU College of Global Public Health.

Unlike infant formulas, toddler milks are not nutritionally complete, experts said.

"A healthy diet for toddlers would limit excess processed foods, salt and sugar."

Approximately 80% of toddler milks have higher sugar content than whole milk and 100% have less protein, the AAP stated.

After toddlers are weaned off breast milk or infant formula, Ferry recommends that they drink milk and water, with the majority of their nutrients coming from solid foods.

"A healthy diet for toddlers would limit excess processed foods, salt and sugar," she said.

Regulation of toddler milk
"Toddler beverage products intended for children 1 year and older are regulated as conventional foods and must comply with the FDA’s labeling regulations," an FDA spokesperson told Fox News Digital.

"This includes providing the Nutrition Facts label, specifically for children 1 to 3 years of age."

When it comes to marketing toddler milks, manufacturers must adhere to certain rules.

Toddler milk
Most infants in the U.S. receive some or all of their nutrition from formula, according to the FDA. (iStock)

"Manufacturers cannot make claims regarding disease conditions, but can use language relating to symptoms, even if they are not supported by evidence," he told Fox News Digital in an email.

They can claim their product is lactose-free, for example — but cannot claim that it is helpful for lactase deficiency, he said.

BABY FORMULA SHORTAGE: WHY MANY MOTHERS CAN'T BREASTFEED

"Nutrient content claims or health claims are not allowed on food products intended specifically for use by infants and children under 2 years of age unless specifically provided for by regulation," added the FDA spokesperson.

"In general, the product labeling must be truthful and not misleading."

Cross-promotion in marketing and packaging

Some experts warn that infant formula and toddler milk are often marketed and packaged in a way that may lead parents to believe they are the same in terms of nutritional content.

"The cross-promotion of toddler milks with infant formula … allows for the trust caregivers have for formula brands to be transferred to a product that is not regulated, contains added sugar, and is not recommended by the AAP," warned Fleming-Milici.

Baby food
Standard infant formula can be supplemented with appropriate solid foods at around 4 to 6 months of age, ensuring intake of essential nutrients like iron, calcium and zinc, the AAP said. (iStock)

"Research shows that these messages lead caregivers to believe toddler milks are superior to their family meals and plain cow’s milk – which is much less expensive and is what experts recommend."

A WHO report noted that "formula milk marketing, not the product itself, disrupts informed decision-making and undermines breastfeeding and child health."

Showing parents educational videos to correct misleading marketing can help to reduce sugary drink consumption in the first few years of a child’s life, Fleming-Milici’s research found.

"Exposure to the videos significantly reduced positive attitudes toward toddler milks and fruit drinks, and reduced intentions to serve both," she told Fox News Digital.

Potential nutritional benefits

Advocates, however, argue that toddler formula is helpful to many young children who don’t get the proper nutrients in their diet.

"In general, the product labeling must be truthful and not misleading."

"Research demonstrates that nutrient intake for young children often falls below adequate levels for iron, vitamins D and E, calcium, choline, potassium and fiber," a spokesperson from the Infant Nutrition Council of America (INCA) told Fox News Digital.

INCA is a Washington, D.C.-based association of manufacturers of infant formulas and toddler milks, representing brands including Abbott Nutrition, Gerber Products Company, Perrigo Nutritionals and Reckitt Benckiser.

"For kids 12 months to 36 months who need nutritional support, toddler nutritional drinks have been shown to contribute to nutritional intake and potentially fill nutrition gaps, as recognized globally in the international Codex Alimentarius standard," the INCA spokesperson added.

When children need extra nutrition because of a medical condition — such as failure to thrive or an intestinal or metabolic disorder — they should receive specialty liquid nutrition rather than products marketed as toddler milk, Ferry noted.

A spokesperson from Nestlé, which makes a variety of powdered milk products for toddlers, said in response to an earlier Fox News Digital query that the company "seeks to provide a range of foods and beverages to support consumers at all stages of life."

The spokesperson added, "Nestlé has consistent standards that apply to our responsible marketing for products intended for babies and young children. Those standards and practices fully comply with the WHO [World Health Organization] code and follow either local law or our own policy — whichever is stricter."

A spokesperson from Similac also submitted a statement to Fox News Digital in response to an earlier query as well.

"National health studies indicate that U.S. toddlers have nutritional gaps in their diet often related to picky eating," the spokesperson said. "When they don’t do well transitioning to table foods, or won’t drink milk, our toddler drinks contain many of the complementary nutrients, such as vitamins and minerals, that they may be missing in their diet."

The spokesperson also said, "Toddler drinks may be an option to help fill nutrient gaps for these children 12 to 36 months of age. Abbott does not recommend or indicate its toddler drinks for infants under 12 months of age."

Fox News Digital also reached out to other companies that make powdered milk products for toddlers.

Parents of young children should always check with their pediatricians for the best and latest nutrition advice.

I'm constantly stunned by the stupidity of IHUBers. How do you know it's the changing of the President and not -- for instance, the changing of the vice president or even The Undersecretary of the Treasury? We get a new one of those every few years.

"' I was just sharing my frustration UNDER THIS PRESIDEN that my strategies no longer worked as well is all'' .

BTW, there's a T at the end of "President."

probably so-----------but in 20 yrs of trading/investing, i have never had such a hard time getting home runs in the risky specs. I didn't buy the magical 7 big tech stocks pelosi did. My style simply hasn't found the same success as before. Maybe it's me. PAYS is my only true home run this year having doubled and somke already...and it has only finally woken up again. I reckon under obama or trump, babyf from mere hype alone might have reached one far higher pps.-------------I don't want to pull this topic into political crap. I was just sharing my frustration under this president that my strategies no longer worked as well is all. I fell flat on my face holding babyf. That loss was unexpected, frankly. And while i agree with your commentary, BEFORE even a flawed babys would have enjoyed a mega run on hype alone- yet did not.

The woman is a stupid imbecile. She doesn't even seem to understand that increases in gross revenues is meaningless if it doesn't translate in net profit growth. Up to now I knew she was a totally incompetent person relative to the art of marketing but she also is totally incompetent in basic accounting.
Hard to believe that someone preffer to fail than getting help.

looks like this has exhausted all investors. I don't see where to be bullish about their strategy. They keep stating growth but I hardly see any real growth. They launched more products in 2023 to make a mere 10% growth from 2022 - no bueno Boyz, no bueno

I have serious INVESTMENTS but also have a 2 bets (more or less 5% of my portfolio) I enjoy looking at. Else is one and the other one is even a higher risk bet. Looking at my investment is as thrilling as looking at grass grow and these 2 toys give me entertainment (I even trade them up & down ... if ups and downs are ..., now and then for fun, adding to the positions when I make a profit).

OTC stocks are terrible investments Do I have to post that SEC study again? The current bull market has been powered almost exclusively by large cap listed stock.

I only have 2 OTC toys like this stock that I call long shots and they currently make a small % of my portfolio. Not much to lose but quite a lot to make if managements take their fingers out of there bottom. In the case of Baby, there is a base to build from.
In both case, I consider that I have bets and not an investment.
