--U.K. engineering company Babcock International has chosen Ruth Cairnie, a former Shell executive and current nonexecutive director at Rolls-Royce, as its preferred next chairwoman, Sky News reports.

--Ms. Cairnie is being lined up to replace Mike Turner, who is set to step down at Babcock's annual general meeting in July.
