MADISON, GA β Amici Italian Café franchisees Jonathan (Bob) Ewing and Jon Joiner were named Restaurateur of the Year by the Georgia Restaurant Association at a recent awards show. According to a news release, the two were lauded for beating the odds and starting their franchise during the economic downturn in 2009.
Ewing and Joiner started working at Amici as dishwashers and worked through the ranks to cook, server, bartender and manager while they were in college. They are now franchisees with three restaurants of their own located in Milledgeville, Lake Oconee and Macon.
"We are so proud that Bob and Jon have been recognized by the Georgia Restaurant Association for their years of service to the Georgia restaurant economy and their success as Amici franchisees," said Chris Torino, vice president of brand development and founder of Amici, in a news release. "The future is bright for Amici, and we look forward to growing our brand in the coming years with dedicated franchisees like Bob and Jon."
Earlier this year, Amici signed a 20-unit restaurant deal with Stonemont Financial Group, a private real estate investment firm headquartered in Atlanta. Stonemont will open new Amici restaurants across North and South Carolina. Their first location just opened in Clemson, S.C.
Amici Italian Café serves made-from-scratch gourmet pizzas and fresh pastas, wings, sandwiches, soups, salads, and a variety of appetizers. The popular café gained a strong student following on the campuses of the University of Georgia and Georgia College & State University.

Unlike GRILLiT, Great American Food Chain actually has some pretty significant revenues according to their Q filing for the 3 months ended March 31, 2013. Sales were reported as $443,970 while franchise and license fee income was $21,253, numbers which vastly overshadow those of GRLT.
However, looking at whatβs on the surface of Great American Food Chain, one would have to imagine that in 2013, websites for corporations on pace to book revenues of nearly $2 million for the year would be better than a $10 drunken mess. While you can get some idea of their business with descriptions of Yumi To Go and Amici Signature Italian, two of the Companies restaurant concepts around the country, you donβt get a vibe that there is much more to GAMN than whatβs in front of you.
With GAMN being, for the most part, an IPO-type play today, the attention that eventually gets drawn to the due-to-come Q2 filing and the share structure will likely bring some players into the GAMN arena once the bags from today get dropped off at the recycling center.

Any idea how I could place an order in dollar amounts rather than based on share amount? If I could just have a dollar amount ready to go, then buy when i see the ticker symbol, it'd be nice. By the time You calculate pps and number of shares to buy, you miss a lot of the uptrend! Does your trading platform allow for ordering in dollar amounts (automatically converting it to share amounts)? I've seen some institutional fund web portals that allow that, but I haven't seen it in TDameritrade or Etrade, for instance.
If you place conditional orders for these right at open, with orders to sell automatically after a certain % gain, you can increase your odds of not getting caught. Don't be greedy.
