CHERRY HILL, N.J., May 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/
-- Encouraging children to sharpen their reading as
well as their money-saving skills, TD Bank, America's Most
Convenient Bank®, will start its Summer Reading Program
this June.
The program rewards children from kindergarten to fifth grade
(ages five through 12) who read 10 books during the summer with a
$10 deposit into a new or existing
Young Saver account. In 2014, 27,530
children participated in the program and read 275,300 books,
earning a total of $275,300 deposited
to Young Saver accounts.
"Financial education is a lifelong journey, and TD Bank is
dedicated to providing the tools and resources necessary for
children to learn how to make smart financial decisions," said
Celia Moncholi, Head of Retail Sales
Strategy and Effectiveness, TD Bank. "The Summer Reading Program
provides an excellent opportunity for us to help parents to not
only encourage their children to improve reading levels, but also
to learn about spending and saving money wisely."
The TD Bank Summer Reading Program runs June 1 through August 31, 2015. The bank
encourages children to ask bank employees questions about saving
money when they visit any of TD's more than 1,300 stores, where
parents can pick up the 2015 Summer Reading Program brochure
beginning June 1. It features a
personal savings chart to help educate Summer Reading participants about how they can
save their $10, as well as tips for
how they can reach their savings goals. When children bring in
their completed Summer Reading form,
TD Bank employees can show them how to fill out the personal
savings chart and make their $10
Summer Reading reward grow.
