After meeting with resounding success on products like the iPad, the iPhone and Mac over the years,  Apple Inc.’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) CEO, Tim Cook said in an interview yesterday that Company now wants to embark on a new area- television.

While speaking in an on-stage television interview, hosted at D10 conference hall in California, Cook said that television is an area of intense focus to the company; so they (company) will keep “pulling up the string”, and see where this new curiosity can lead them.

Before succumbing to cancer, Apple’s erstwhile CEO and co-founder, Steve Jobs said to his biographer that he had “finally cracked” how to make a TV which will have a simple user friendly interface along with a possibility of wirelessly synchronizing its content with Apple’s other devices.

Meanwhile, Gene Munster, an analyst at Piper Jaffray Cos, said that the company is developing a TV which could be made public this year and released in 2013.

Sources close to the development of this new product said last year that Apple handpicked Jeff Robin for this task. Jeff, a software engineer, had earlier constructed the iTunes media store and helped building the iPod.

Commenting over company’s consolidation, Cook said that Apple remains on lookout for acquisitions, although at present it’s not focused on large-sized deals.
