UK services PMI advanced in December
The services PMI in the UK rose to a level of 51.20 in December, higher than market expectations of a rise to a reading of 50.70. In the previous month, the index had recorded a level of 50.40.
Euro-zone services PMI slid in December
The final services PMI in the Euro-zone eased to a level of 51.20 in December, compared to a reading of 53.40 in the prior month. Markets were anticipating the index to fall to a level of 51.40.
Euro-zone CPI rose less than expected in December
On a YoY basis, the preliminary consumer price index (CPI) in the Euro-zone climbed 1.60% in December, less than market expectations for an advance of 1.80%. In the prior month, the CPI had risen 1.90%.
US Markit services PMI dropped in December
The final Markit services PMI in the US fell to a level of 54.40 in December, compared to market expectations of a drop to a reading of 53.40. The index had registered a reading of 54.70 in the previous month.
Nonfarm payrolls in the US increased in December
In the US, nonfarm payrolls climbed by 312.00 K in December, compared to market expectations of an advance of 184.00 K. Nonfarm payrolls had registered a revised gain of 176.00 K in the previous month.
