what are the details?

Windstream (NASDAQ:WIN) Carrier Solutions has reorganized its business unit around a vertical sales focus. As part of that move, Mike Shippey, President of Windstream Carrier Solutions, announced the promotion of Joe Scattareggia to Senior Vice President of Sales. Scattareggia will oversee all sales teams within the Carrier organization, which are being realigned to focus on wholesale verticals.

Scattareggia was previously Vice President of Strategic Sales for the Carrier business unit and was responsible for growing Windstream’s business with strategic telecom customers.

The organizational realignment is part of Windstream Carrier Solutions’ effort to tailor solutions to meet the specific needs of its carrier customers on an industry-specific level, and also to focus resources around the segments of its business that represent the greatest growth opportunities.

The sales teams under Scattareggia will be organized to focus on content/OTT providers, strategic wireless and wireline carriers, cable companies, foreign carriers, and other network operators. These verticals are increasingly looking to Windstream for wave transport and related network infrastructure services. Leveraging Windstream’s 100G DWDM express network, Windstream Carrier Solutions is able to offer wave services in 33 states, and 100G service in 44 markets.

Windstream Carrier Solutions’ wave services are uniquely positioned to provide connectivity not only between major Tier 1 cities, but also to reach tertiary markets requiring high bandwidth solutions.

“Windstream Carrier Solutions has leveraged our national 100G, long-haul core network to produce solid sales growth this year,” said Shippey. “We are winning large deals across verticals we haven’t done business with before and we are committed to continued investment in our networks to position Windstream Carrier Solution as the leading national provider of wave services.”
