Calvin- Are you STILL Bullish on CLI.v. This company has SCAM written all over on it. I would like to see the trading records of Laurie and her crew. Time for an investigation.

Nothing like a stock that dies for no explicable reason other than the hype of Peru was not up to its task. And the air went out of the balloon.

I feel for you, Calvin. I really do. It is always sad to see someone who is so--SO positive and supportive of a company to get treated this way. SLI.v is now down 85% from its 52 week highs.

I would like to go on the record as saying IMHO, SLI is still mining some veigns, proving up the resource while selling some of the GOLD to help pay for some expenses. As per /, . http://www.wallstreetreporter.com/2009/11/st-elias-mines-tsx-v-sli-ceo-interview/. I would say starting at 11 min mark it gets real interesting. At 21:30 "We cant kill the tesaro" Then she says we can continue proving it up and getting n1 43101 resourses... hmmmmm........

There are so many irons so to speak in the fire. Still awaiting trench results. I can't help but keep thinking this property was only sampled from the surface with a shovel and bucket. Since May 2011 http://steliasmines.com/newsrelease/extensive-trenching-program-commencing-at-the-tesoro-gold-project-in-peru/

"In an effort to increase the pace of trenching, the Company will utilize both local labor and mechanized trenching methods".

Oh a trencher and and Dozer are what I remember hearing was on the property. I wonder just how much they have trenched and what they have revealed in both disemated gold as well as new veigns.

The past only makes the future clearer.

we then have only partial drill results as per/

http://steliasmines.com/newsrelease/st-elias-mines-ltd-intersects-0-74gt-au-over-37-85-metres-in-ddh-te-11-06-at-tesoro/

Drill Hole TE-11-06 returned compelling initial results and, while additional drill testing is required, the Company is in the process of completely sampling Drill Hole TE-11-06 from 60m to 170m on minimum 1.5-metre intervals to more accurately define a potential, bulk-tonnage mineralized target.

We may just see it tomorrow, I pray

Calvin. What are your thoughts now? Something is seriously wrong with SLI.v.

I respect your opinion. It looks like Tesoro is not the gold mine we were all led to believe. Narrow veins.Either an incomplete geology report (we hope) or it is a complete report that says Tesoro is lot a great concession.

Miscommunication that continues even after they know they screwed up.

A conference call that was more focused on slamming StockHouse posters than talking about the company. A conference call that, to me, underscored that Laurie is a one woman show and does no preparation for answering shareholders' numerous questions.

Am I missing something here? Please tell me where I am mistaken.

St. Elias must get more aggressive on getting out some explanation on why there was such a big dump in their stock. Really amazing how this fiasco has been poorly handled.

👍️0
conix conix 12 years ago
Calvin--you really seem to know what you are talking about on assay reports. So you must be pretty ticked off with SLI.v management to somehow release news that makes the stock go down to 60% and, when they try to get it right the second time, the stock still goes down.

I wish I could say I am more encouraged--but the declining price is a referendum of sorts by multiple shareholders/investors and their interpretation of the assay news. And the votes keep on coming in.

And the price keeps on declining.

Calvin--something is amiss. Murray? Laurie? Someone?
👍️0
conix conix 12 years ago
With the right kind of news, this thing could turn around. And I suspect that alot of other observers think so too. Now it is up to mgmt to calm the shareholders with real clarity.

Thankfully, I was already out before the dump. Traded the bounce. But not ready to reload until I see something from the company that will address the sudden decline--because once that happens (assuming the truth is positive)--those who dumped at $1.30 --$1.10--will come back again.

Greed does wonders.
👍️0
conix conix 12 years ago
Thanks, Calvin, for your post.

I think you would agree with me that Laurie and crew are really pathetic on explaining to those shareholders the specifics of the gold report like you have here.

And the proof is in the lack of a rebound.

You may be right in still being positive. But I am taking my cues from the POOR PRESS RELEASES and the action in the stock.

You do not have 8 Million shares sell on neophyte shareholder dumping at $1.80 down. Much of that selling came from thos investors close to the company and knew what the godl report suggested. And as they dumped, it scared those shareholders you suggest are out there (those that do not do alot of DD).

No--something is suspiciously wrong here. If you talk to the company, you might want to push them to do better on the next PR.

And, if they do not, that will tell the world that there IS something wrong here.

I would love to buy back in. But I am happy with the 100% gain I did on the bounce as for now.

Calvin, have you talked to Murray? Laurie? Frick and Frack on the IR front? What do they say? Are they happy with how they have handled this 50% slice off the top...???

Calvin Hobbes Calvin Hobbes 12 years ago
Hope this explains my take on this.

First let’s look at the first release (that cause irrational panic and selling)

What did the first result say?
1) The cores small veinlet intercepts were assayed (showed low grade).
2) We had no idea whether the whole core was assayed or partial as it only said partial results (of what???) we did not know.
3) We knew only grades greater than 1g/t were shown.
4) Where were they drilled (we did not know)
5) Were the areas between the intercepts reported barren or mineralized (did not know)

What astonished me was that most of us investors spent the last year or two dissecting and talking about the Quantec imagery and its relation to the existing known mineralization to nauseam. Most I think felt that everyone had a pretty good idea of what we were sitting on and it’s potential, yet this first incomplete and inaccurate release comes out, and immediately many panicked and ran for the exits helping to plunge the stock to an all time 52 week low.

It was blatantly and blaringly obvious that:
1) The results were incomplete and rushed
2) There was far from enough information to make any kind of rational decision on what these results meant (ESPECIALLY whether they were good or bad).
3) Even the experts that some had showed it too, and posted there reply indicated that there was not enough information to make a determination one way or the other. (and that is from the people who know these things)
4) Because the data table was in error, clarification had to be done. IMO

I feel bad that some got stung especially those who sold at 60 to 70 cents and took a big hit. And if they want in now will have to buy back at a higher level then what they sold at. But I’m sorry; I have to ask what were they thinking?
At the very least make a decision based on solid, factual and complete information.
I think too many people spent too much time maybe on SH listening to the BS bashing of some smooth talking manipulators, yelling run for the door the sky is falling.
Even now after the clarification release which now sheds new light on the results and we in fact now find out that only a fraction of the cores were tested and they were in fact perimeter holes and that the granodiorite is mineralized by the looks of it to depth. They are still over there yelling sell, sell the sky is falling. Who do you think is increasing there positions at your expense?

Have confidence in your own ability to do DD and research and understand your own investment. Think about this. They were all ranting the other day about how DD was BS and wasn’t worth doing. What does that tell you about the validity of anything that is said on SH by that bunch of bashers?

To the release today.

What did today’s release do:

1) It verified that the holes were mostly perimeter holes.

Now there were some arguing that many are within the large ovoid. Well what does the release say? It says:

Drilling to date has focused on testing the Quantec Titan 24 geophysical targets PRIMARILY SURROUNDING and within the large “ovoid”.

The word primarily is referring to the word surrounding NOT within. To add clarity to this I was told by management that Lloyd had indicated that 8 to 9 drill holes of the 11, were in fact perimeter holes. So there is no need to debate this issue.

2) It verified that the assays were in fact limited to selected areas of the core.(It would seem the veinlet intercepts).

Proof: The new release states:

the Company is in the process of completely sampling Drill Hole TE-11-06 from 60m to 170m on minimum 1.5-metre intervals to more accurately define a potential, bulk-tonnage mineralized target.

Also

anomaly identified by the Quantec Titan 24 Survey at depth on the Property has been limitedly tested by diamond drilling on this round of drilling.

Also

The Company is in the midst of a systematic program of re-sampling and drill core analysis with a focus on increasing the sampling intervals both above and below any noted quartz/sulphide intersections, and where areas of multiple sulphide mineralization were noted, continuous sampling through these zones to combine one single sampled interval. In this capacity, potentially mineralized wall rock between close spaced mineralized veins can be tested, towards bulk tonnage mineral potential.
Therefore these were not tested over the entire length of the core that is abundantly clear from this release. As a result even now we still do not have a complete picture of the potential of the complete core.

3) It was indicated today also that the cores have yet to be tested for gold in quartz which again may increase the grade we are currently seeing in the data table.

4) It has now indicated that the granodiorite is in fact mineralized. A question was asked today whether the 37m @.74g/t was the average of the vein intercept values.
No it is not. Remember that the veins are reporting only value over 1g/t so if you averaged the veins you would end up with an overall grade above 1 g/t not .74g/t. The .74g/t takes into consideration the gold grades found between the vein materials in the diorite of wall rock which is the disseminated gold between veins. What is VERY significant, is that if you take the over all intercept of 37m and remove the two largest vein intercept values from the equation, you will determine that the other 36m contain an average gold grade of approx .2g/t. This is extremely significant in that it confirms that the areas between the veins are in fact mineralized to the tune of .2g/t (disseminated gold). Yanacocha mines that grade now at a big profit.
Understand as stated above this was a 157m deep hole which on the northern flank may not have even pierced the ovoid yet:

flank (fl ngk)
n.
1. The section of flesh on the body of a person or an animal between the last rib and the hip; the side.
2. A cut of meat from the flank of an animal.
3. A lateral part or side: the flank of a mountain

Also being a perimeter hole, I believe it is extremely likely that as we step into the anomaly (toward the center) and drill deeper, that in all likelihood the results and grades will continue to get better.

5) Also of note: Lori has mentioned the term “Bulk tonnage mineral potential” 2 or 3 times. I believe this is where this is going, Open pitable disseminated gold project.

If many of the other drill cores after complete analysis indicate something similar to what has been shown in Hole#6 I think we will be in fine shape as we in step to the center of the massive anomalous zones.
Just a little indication of how the complet assay of a core can change the value.
Let’s say they entire 157m of core was assayed and it came back at 157m @ .5g/t. If you then exclude the 3 biggest vein intercept values, you will end up with a 155.5m core averaging .36g/t that’s within 155m of surface and hasn’t really from my understanding pierced the ovoid yet.

Conclusion:

Considering these are preliminary, limited assays, the vast majority coming from the edge or perimeter of the massive ovoid, this is terrific news and the results are very good and immensely promising going forward. As the existing cores are re-sampled to reflect a more accurate value or the length of the core and the results are posted along with new drill results in the near future, we will get a more complete picture of the overall scale and potential of the property. All so remember we now now that the mineralization runs to depth.

Keep your head folks and make sure you understand the information provided before running out and making kneejerk reactions to false or incomplete data.

Sorry forgot page 2
The Company has identified five mineralized zones with more than 50 quartz veins (having a total combined length of 9km) at the Tesoro Project and has carried out underground exploration and development work on three of these veins (C1, C2 and A4 Veins.) The veins are mesothermal, indicating that the vein structures may extend to considerable depths.

To date, a total of 1,157 tons of bulk sample material averaging 0.93 oz/t gold has been extracted from ongoing underground exploration development at several locations on the Tesoro Property including:

?.643 tons averaging 0.77 oz/t gold from the A4 Vein; ?.451 tons averaging 0.99 oz/t gold from the C1 Vein; and ?.63 tons averaging 2.04 oz/t gold from the C2 Vein.

The Tesoro Property has never been evaluated to depth or to its full strike potential. This leaves a large potential for the discovery of additional mineralization.

The anomalies being tested by drilling include IP chargeability highs, resistivity lows and highs, and MT derivatives, as well as various combinations of these anomalies. Summary drilling results will be announced upon completion of the Phase IA Drill Program and compilation/interpretation of all data.

Drilling to date has focused on testing the Quantec Titan 24 geophysical targets primarily surrounding and within the large "ovoid" chargeability anomaly at Zona Central. Drill Hole TE-11-06 is located along the main Tesoro structural trend on the northern flank of this anomaly.

The interval from 90.6m to 128.5m in Drill Hole TE-11-06 assayed 0.74g/t Au over 37.85m, and includes 0.74m of 23.5g/t Au at 112.26m and 0.35m of 9.6g/t Au at 113.32m. These mineralized intersections have been interpreted to be related to widespread resistivity lows identified from the 2009/2010 Titan 24 Survey. This correlation has led management to utilize these Quantec resistivity lows zones associated with the known mineralized corridors to fine tune additional exploration targets for drilling.

The large "ovoid" geophysical (chargeability) anomaly identified by the Quantec Titan 24 Survey at depth on the Property has been limitedly tested by diamond drilling on this round of drilling. The Quantec survey data is currently being re-evaluated and re-interpreted to take into account the latest drill results in correlation with the geophysical targets.

Several sampled (halved core) intervals were noted to contain sulphide mineralization. Sulphide mineralization is directly associated with quartz/carbonate veins and/or veinlets and the restricted areas of alteration surrounding these veins. A review of the assay data compiled to date indicates a correlation between these visible sulphides and gold mineralization.

Lori McClenahan states "While it is still early days for our flagship project (the "Tesoro"), we are very excited as initial drilling at Tesoro has confirmed gold mineralization at depth. We are using logical and systematic exploration steps and techniques to guide us in our exploration efforts. Much more exploration/drilling is warranted at the Tesoro. This is just the beginning."

The second drill rig, capable of drilling >=1,000m holes, is onsite and turning. The addition of this second drill rig will result in increased productivity and quicker turnaround time for geological information and chemical analyses. Additional infrastructure, including expansion of camp facilities, additional water trucks and personnel (including two additional on-site geologists has been completed. There are currently four fulltime geologists working on the project under the guidance of James Thom, M.Sc. and Paul D. Gray, P.Geo.

(1)Highest gold value obtained in these drill holes

(2)The gold grades are uncut and the intercept reported drill core intercept widths do not necessarily reflect the true width of the mineralization encountered.

The Company utilizes an industry-standard quality assurance/quality control program. HQ and NTW diamond drill core is sawn in half with one-half shipped to the ISO-certified Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum Peru SA assay laboratory in Lima, Peru, for chemical analysis. Blanks, duplicates and certified reference standards are inserted into the sample stream to monitor laboratory performance.

Calvin--what was in the latest press release on the gold assays that SELSF drop? A recap with 2007 press releases does not cut it for most here that are licking their wounds.

I would not mind getting back in, but I do not want to tempt fate too much. I have traded this stock remarkably well. But if I rebuy and it gets clobbered, I could lose all I have gained.

So, trying to help everyone here. You seem to have a positive view on what is going on at SELSF/SLI.v. Those reading this board would be very interested in WHY you are still positive on the future?

Did you see the post I put up from Seeking Alpha? The writer said why SELSF is STILL over valued. Could you refute any of his assertions?

I have been in this stock since 2006, I am quite blessed in how I found this stock. My friend was a neighbor with Murray from IR. I did not know anything about the stock market. I only knew that the price of GOLD was going up. I also knew what I read of the news releases. Such as samples of oz / ton of rock...
The story has gotten much better since then. The FACTS are getting stronger.

QUANTEC SURVEY- Titan 24 Deep Earth Imaging – Leading in Deep Exploration
Titan 24 Magnetotellurics (MT) and IP / Resistivity (DCIP) is the leading deep search ground geophysical method worldwide. In mineral exploration (grassroots exploration and brownfields exploration), the system images conductive mineralization, disseminated mineralization, alteration, structure and geology to 700 m and beyond for reliable and cost-effective targeting of drill holes to depth. In a brownfields environment, Titan 24 is effective for both minesite exploration and near mine exploration, and has been used to find new ore both in mines and nearby. Case histories for both Titan 24 grassroots exploration and brownfields exploration are available on this site or on request through info@QuantecGeoscience.com.
Titan 24 is also applicable for other applications which require significant depths of penetration, such as geothermal investigations.

The result of a four-year effort to develop advanced tools for very precise and deep subsurface information, the array based Titan 24 Deep Earth Imaging system is the most advanced electrical earth imaging technology to date. Based on best practices found in the oil and gas industry, the system has been designed to meet the needs of a variety of stakeholders in mining exploration and to serve as a tool in making key property evaluation decisions.
Measuring the parameters of DC (resistivity), IP (chargeability) and MT (magnetotelluric resistivity), Titan 24 measures to depths of 750 meters with IP and can explore beyond 1.5 kilometers with MT data. These depths and multi-parameter data make the system the best option available for obtaining subsurface pre-drilling information related to geologic structure and for the direct detection of mineral deposits any where in the world.
Measuring multifold full waveform data and sophisticated digital signal processing, Titan 24 can highlight subtle features through thick cultural overburden, making it an important tool for investigation where the effectiveness of traditional methods has been limited. The system provides a strategic advantage at grass roots stages and also allows for the reassessment of many areas covered previously by less sophisticated exploration methods in and around established mining grounds. Titan 24 systems are proven to be effective in many geologic and physical environments.

Applications

Gold
Massive Sulphides
Penetration of thick overburden
Focus deep drilling
Grassroots
Deep Regional Earth studies
Structural information
Brown ground discovery including highly cultured areas such as existing mine sites

How it Works

Titan employs distributed array technology for data acquisition pioneered in the oil and gas industry. By measuring 24 or more stations simultaneously, Titan is able to efficiently record and process a vast amount of data. By sampling more data, faster and simultaneously, it provides increased reliability and accuracy of information compared to other methods. The method also employs a larger array (generally a 2400 metre spread), delivering much deeper capability than traditional means and airborne methods.

Attributes of the Titan 24 System

Distributed Acquisition System
High Multiplicity Source Receiver Data Sets
24bit Sigma Delta Time Series Waveform Data
Broadband D.C. to .01 Hz
Telluric Cancellation
Deconvolution of Input Waveforms
Multiparameter: D.C. Resistivity, IP, AMT, and MT
Rapid Data Collection
Fast Interpretation

In my honest opinion...
In time everyone will hear of this GEM... But will it be a household word already by then?

Calvin--what are you hearing from the company? I have to tell you, for this company to have not commented on the recent volatility is IRRESPONSIBLE and alarming. And, until they do a press release that explains the gold report etc., smart investors are not going to trust this company.

Has anyone talked to the CEO? Come on. What a pathetic Public Relations strategy.

There may be another trade here. But it is going to take a explanation from the company before St. Elias recovers for a potential trade.

Seeking Alpha--now I understand

St. Elias Mines' (SLI, TSXV) (SELSF.PK) hand was finally forced, and they released horrible drilling results from their over-hyped Tesoro property. The grades were low, and the widths were extremely narrow. There is very little hope left for Tesoro and St. Elias. By coincidence, the same day that St. Elias reported its results, Kaminak Gold (KAM, TSXV) (KMKGF.PK) reported stellar results with substantial Au grades on 10 meter widths, not mediocre grades on spider veins at fractions of a meter. But Kaminak's enterprise value of $115M is fairly close to that of St. Elias. Go figure.

Hey, Calvin!???

You sound like you are very close to the company as you were very helpful in making many additions and changes to this i-Box. Usually all the details and time comes from someone who owns alot of shares and has alot of interest in a company.

Have you spoken witth any one at the company? Are you still positive on what is going on there?

Is this a great time to loadup at a huge discount from just two months ago?

Or has something happened and we are seeing those "in the know" bailing out?

I really would appreciate your insight.

Thanks
