Bernstein Private Wealth Management Study Reveals Ultra-Wealthy Families' Focus on Internal Resilience amid Global and Economic UncertaintyJune 15, 2026 9:30 AM
PR Newswire (US) ? Firm Unveils New 2026 Wealth Beyond Measure Research Report ?? Highlights Shifting Views on Risk, Succession, and the Next Generation in a Volatile Market ?NEW YORK, June 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Bernstein Private Wealth Management (Bernstein), a unit of AllianceBernstein L.P. (NYSE: AB), today released findings from the second edition of its Wealth Beyond Measure 2026 report, revealing ultrahigh-net-worth (UHNW) families are responding to change by focusing on internal resilience with clear generational differences in risk and wealth perception amid global economic and geopolitical uncertainty.Based on responses from over 100 Bernstein UHNW clients with an average net worth of $200 million, the study finds a clear divide between controllable and uncontrollable factors. Nearly two-thirds of respondents cite geopolitical and economic instability as major concerns, while confidence is highest in areas where families have more agency, including wealth preservation, philanthropic planning, tax strategies, and access to unique investment opportunities."We're seeing a meaningful shift in how ultrahigh-net-worth families think about wealth and resilience that calls for a more modern, personalized approach beyond traditional investment management," said Aaron Bates, Head of Bernstein's Ultrahigh-Net-Worth and Growth Strategies. "As we continue to see the acceleration of emerging wealth creators, we remain committed to providing the research and insights families need to navigate complex wealth in volatile economic conditions."Key findings from the 2026 study include:Definitions of Wealth Are Evolving. For 41% of families, wealth means freedom and opportunity, while 33% see it as a responsibility rooted in preservation and strong values. Across generations, baby boomers are more likely to see wealth as a source of stability, while younger respondents see it as a source of flexibility and risk-taking.Prepared Families Show Greater Confidence. Formal preparation is strongly linked to confidence. Nearly all high-confidence families (93%) say they have plans in place to prepare the rising generation for future leadership, compared with 61% of low-confidence families. Education (37%) and sharing family history and lessons learned (35%) are the most common ways families prepare future leaders.Risk Concerns Shift Across Generations. Concerns vary meaningfully by age. Thirty-eight percent of respondents ages 50–64 cite the effectiveness of tax strategies amid policy changes as a key concern, compared with just 10% of those ages 65–79. By contrast, concern about geopolitical and economic uncertainty rises with age, with 72%–80% of respondents 65 and older reporting the highest levels. Younger cohorts ages 35–49 report the lowest concern across all external factors, suggesting they may have normalized instability and rely on time as a hedge.Estate Planning Activity Remains High. Following the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act in 2025, estate planning is notably high. Twenty percent of respondents say the new tax law prompted an estate plan review, with more than half reviewing their plans within the past year. Families with the highest confidence are also most likely to have made tangible plans.Business Owners Wrestle with Transitions. While 72% of business owners could clearly articulate their estate plans, only 56% could do the same for succession. Many also say liquidity events are a turning point that reshapes identity, purpose, and family systems. Nearly one-third of the respondents cite adjusting to new wealth among their current challenges. Anne Buccarelli, Senior National Director of Family Engagement Strategies, said, "Today, confidence in wealth management extends beyond preservation. It requires intentional preparation and thoughtful management of relationships and responsibilities across generations. Our Wealth Beyond Measure report brings to market unique insights into how ultra-wealthy families are navigating change, where they feel confident or uncertain, and how they are preparing heirs to become responsible stewards of wealth. At Bernstein, we are truly dedicated to helping families foster a shared language and open dialogue for building their legacy for generations to come."This year's Wealth Beyond Measure report draws on a new round of in-depth interviews conducted by Bernstein's Family Engagement team. Participants included first-generation wealth creators, multigenerational families, inheritors, family office leaders, and rising generation members. The research explores how these families are navigating change and sentiment in the current geopolitical and economic environment, and how they are preparing for what comes next.  The full 2026 Wealth Beyond Measure report is available here on Bernstein.com.Methodology
The 2026 Wealth Beyond Measure report utilized a blended methodology approach, combining both qualitative depth and quantitative breadth. Among the 107 participants, 47% have a family business, 80% are wealth creators, and 20% are beneficiaries. The group is composed of 75% male and 25% female participants, with an average net worth of $200 million. The research combined in-depth, one-on-one interviews with UHNW individuals and families, covering a broad spectrum of ages, industries, and family structures with survey data from a wider segment of Bernstein's UHNW platform. This approach provides an intimate perspective on the decisions and considerations families are facing today. By drawing on Bernstein's extensive experience advising UHNW families globally, the report identifies distinct patterns in communication, governance, wealth planning, and investment sentiment. Collectively, these findings offer a multidimensional view of how families are currently navigating the complexities of wealth.About Bernstein Private Wealth Management

PR Newswire (US)

GAAP Net Income of $0.92 per Unit
Adjusted Net Income of $0.83 per Unit
Cash Distribution of $0.83 per UnitNASHVILLE, Tenn., April 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- AllianceBernstein L.P. ("AB") and AllianceBernstein Holding L.P. ("AB Holding") (NYSE: AB) today reported financial and operating results for the quarter ended March 31, 2026."The first quarter of 2026 unfolded against a difficult geopolitical backdrop associated with market volatility," said Seth Bernstein, CEO of AllianceBernstein. "Firmwide net active outflows totaled $6.3 billion, reflecting a more risk-averse environment, despite continued momentum across structurally growing areas—including private markets, active ETFs, SMAs, insurance, and wealth management. Active equity outflows remained elevated at $10.9 billion across channels, primarily within growth-oriented US strategies. Our market-leading municipal franchise continued to demonstrate its income-oriented appeal, supported by strong high-net-worth demand, generating $3.3 billion net inflows in the quarter. Taxable fixed income demand diverged by channel and region, with institutional net inflows more than offset by APAC retail net outflows, resulting in $1.7 billion net outflows. Alternatives/multi-asset strategies recorded $3.4 billion net inflows, reflecting continued institutional deployments into private markets and customized retirement solutions, along with multi-asset retail inflows. Compared to prior year, average AUM and advisory base fees grew 8% and 5%, respectively. Adjusted operating income increased 3% and adjusted earnings per Unit and distributions to Unitholders rose 4%."(US $ Thousands except per Unit amounts)1Q 2026

Taxable fixed-income outflows totaled $4.5 billion, concentrated in American Income and Global High Yield. Retail alternatives/MAS recorded $0.9 billion of net inflows, driven by the continued expansion of our multi-asset offerings within APAC. Institutional activity was largely constructive outside of active equities, where we registered $5.1 billion of outflows. A steady cadence of private-market deployments coupled with inflows into our defined-contribution platform, resulted in $1.6 billion alternatives/multi-asset inflows during the first quarter. Institutional taxable fixed income also generated $2.3 billion inflows. Institutional client engagement was strong, with our pipeline AUM surpassing $27 billion, highest on record, supported by expanding insurance partnerships and deepening existing client relationships. Bernstein Private Wealth continued to deliver strong growth, with net new assets increasing at 5% annualized rate including $0.6 billion of organic inflows across asset classes. Advisor productivity and client engagement remained strong, marking the third consecutive quarter of positive flows and driving deeper penetration across the ultra-high-net-worth channel."In conclusion, Bernstein remarked, "Market volatility is elevated as investors recalibrate risk exposure against a backdrop of slower growth, unsettled inflationary pressures, and ongoing geopolitical instability. Our long-term perspective, differentiated investment capabilities, and deep client partnerships position us well to navigate the evolving environment. We are focused on delivering high-quality investment outcomes, executing against our strategic priorities, and creating durable value for our clients, unitholders, and stakeholders."The firm's cash distribution per Unit of $0.83 is payable on May 21, 2026, to holders of record of AB Holding Units at the close of business on May 8, 2026.Market PerformanceGlobal equity and fixed income markets were mostly down in the first quarter of 2026.

Management principally uses these non-GAAP financial measures in evaluating performance because we believe they present a clearer picture of our operating performance and allow management to see long-term trends without the distortion caused by incentive compensation-related mark-to-market adjustments, acquisition-related expenses, interest expense and other adjustment items. Similarly, we believe that non-GAAP earnings information helps investors better understand the underlying trends in our results and, accordingly, provides a valuable perspective for investors. Please note, however, that these non-GAAP measures are provided in addition to, and not as a substitute for, any measures derived in accordance with US GAAP and they may not be comparable to non-GAAP measures presented by other companies. Management uses both US GAAP and non-GAAP measures in evaluating our financial performance. The non-GAAP measures alone may pose limitations because they do not include all of our revenues and expenses.AB Holding is required to distribute all of its Available Cash Flow, as defined in the AB Holding Partnership Agreement, to its Unitholders (including the General Partner). Available Cash Flow typically is the adjusted net income per unit for the quarter multiplied by the number of units outstanding at the end of the quarter. Management anticipates that Available Cash Flow will continue to be based on adjusted net income per unit, unless management determines, with concurrence of the Board of Directors, that one or more adjustments made to adjusted net income should not be made with respect to the Available Cash Flow calculation.US GAAP EarningsRevenuesFirst quarter net revenues of $1.2 billion increased 11% from $1.1 billion in the first quarter of 2025. The increase was primarily due to investment gains as compared to losses in the prior year, higher investment advisory base fees, higher performance-based fees and higher shareholder servicing fees.Sequentially, net revenues of $1.2 billion decreased 2% from the fourth quarter of 2025. The slight decrease was primarily due to lower investment advisory base fees and lower performance-based fees and lower distribution revenue, partially offset by higher investment gains.ExpensesFirst quarter operating expenses of $875 million increased 4% from $844 million in the first quarter of 2025. The increase is primarily due to higher employee compensation and benefits expense, partially offset by lower general and administrative ("G&A") expense. Employee compensation and benefits expense increased due to higher incentive compensation, commissions, fringe benefits and base compensation. The decrease in G&A expenses is driven by a retirement plan settlement loss of $20.8 million in the prior year quarter, partially offset by higher office-related expenses and professional fees.Sequentially, operating expenses of $875 million decreased 4% from $915 million, driven primarily by lower promotion and servicing expense, lower G&A expense and lower employee compensation and benefits expense. Promotion and servicing expense decreased primarily due to lower distribution-related payments, lower marketing and communications expense and lower transfer fees. G&A expense decreased primarily due to an impairment charge of $4.0 million in the prior period associated with a smaller historical acquisition in 2020, lower professional fees and lower portfolio services and related expense. Employee compensation and benefits expense decreased primarily due to lower incentive compensation and base compensation, partially offset by higher fringe benefits and commissions.Operating Income, Margin and Net Income Per UnitFirst quarter operating income of $327 million increased 38% from $236 million in the first quarter of 2025 and the operating margin of 26.1% in the first quarter of 2026 increased 430 basis points from 21.8% in the first quarter of 2025.Sequentially, operating income of $327 million increased 6% from $309 million in the fourth quarter of 2025 and the operating margin of 26.1% increased 100 basis points from 25.1% in the fourth quarter of 2025.First quarter net income per Unit was $0.92 compared to $0.67 in the first quarter of 2025 and increased from $0.90 in the fourth quarter of 2025.Non-GAAP Earnings

The decrease was primarily due to lower performance-based fees, lower investment advisory base fees and investment losses as compared to gains in the prior quarter.Adjusted ExpensesFirst quarter adjusted operating expenses of $580 million increased 4% from $555 million in the first quarter of 2025 primarily due to higher employee compensation and benefits expense and higher G&A expense. Employee compensation and benefits expense increased primarily due to higher commissions, fringe benefits and base compensation, partially offset by lower incentive compensation. G&A expense increased primarily due to higher office-related expenses, portfolio services and related expense and professional fees.Sequentially, adjusted operating expenses of $580 million decreased 8% from $627 million. The decrease was driven primarily by lower employee compensation and benefits expense, lower promotion and servicing expense, and lower G&A expense. Employee compensation and benefits expense decreased primarily due to lower incentive compensation and base compensation, partially offset by higher fringe benefits and commissions. Promotion and servicing expense decreased primarily due to lower marketing and communication expense and lower transfer fees. G&A expense decreased primarily due to lower professional fees, technology and related expense and portfolio services and related expense.Adjusted operating Income, Margin and Net Income Per UnitFirst quarter adjusted operating income of $291 million increased 3% from $283 million in the first quarter of 2025, and the adjusted operating margin of 33.4% decreased 30 basis points from 33.7%.Sequentially, adjusted operating income of $291 million decreased 12% from $330 million and the adjusted operating margin of 33.4% decreased 110 basis points from 34.5%.First quarter adjusted net income per Unit was $0.83 compared to $0.80 in the first quarter of 2025 and $0.96 in the fourth quarter of 2025.HeadcountAs of March 31, 2026, we had 4,454 employees, compared to 4,369 employees as of March 31, 2025 and 4,468 employees as of December 31, 2025.Unit Repurchases

Notes to Consolidated Statements of Income and Supplemental Information
(Unaudited)Adjusted Net RevenuesNet Revenue, as adjusted, is reduced to exclude all of the company's distribution revenues, which are recorded as a separate line item on the consolidated statement of income, as well as a portion of investment advisory services fees received that is used to pay distribution and servicing costs. For certain products, based on the distinct arrangements, certain distribution fees are collected by us and passed through to third-party client intermediaries, while for certain other products, we collect investment advisory services fees and a portion is passed through to third-party client intermediaries. In both arrangements, the third-party client intermediary owns the relationship with the client and is responsible for performing services and distributing the product to the client on our behalf. We believe offsetting distribution revenues and certain investment advisory services fees is useful for our investors and other users of our financial statements because such presentation appropriately reflects the nature of these costs as pass-through payments to third parties that perform functions on behalf of our sponsored mutual funds and/or shareholders of these funds. Distribution-related adjustments fluctuate each period based on the type of investment products sold, as well as the average AUM over the period. Also, we adjust distribution revenues for the amortization of deferred sales commissions as these costs, over time, will offset such revenues. We adjust investment advisory and services fees and other revenues for pass through costs, primarily related to our transfer agent and shareholder servicing fees. Also, we adjust for certain investment advisory and service fees passed through to our investment advisors. We also adjust for certain pass through costs associated with the transition of services to the JV entered into with Societe Generale ("SocGen"). These amounts are expensed by us and passed to the JV for reimbursement. These fees do not affect operating income, as such, we exclude these fees from adjusted net revenues. We adjust for the revenue impact of consolidating company-sponsored investment funds by eliminating the consolidated company-sponsored investment funds' revenues and including AB's fees from such consolidated company-sponsored investment funds and AB's investment gains and losses on its investments in such consolidated company-sponsored investment funds that were eliminated in consolidation. We also adjust investment advisory and services fees for pass through performance fees, primarily related to acquisition-related funds in which we do not participate in the performance.Adjusted net revenues exclude investment gains and losses and dividends and interest on employee long-term incentive compensation-related investments. Also, we adjust for certain acquisition related pass through performance-based fees and performance related compensation. We also adjust net revenues to exclude our portion of the equity income or loss associated with our equity method investments, including our investment in the JV and reinsurance sidecars, as we don't consider this activity part of our core business operations and these investments generate non-cash volatility which distort core earnings performance. Effective April 1, 2024 following the close of the transaction with SocGen, we record all income or loss associated with the JV as an equity method investment income (loss). As we no longer consider this activity part of our core business operations and our intent is to fully divest from both joint ventures, we consider these amounts temporary, and as such, we exclude these amounts from our adjusted net revenues. On January 1, 2026, AB entered into an Amended and Restated Shareholder agreement with SocGen (the "Amendment Agreement") and exercised the AB option to deliver a 17.7% interest in the NA JV to SocGen resulting in AB owning a 49% interest in the NA JV and SocGen having a majority interest of 51% in the NA JV. The prepaid consideration received was in excess of the carrying value of the 17.7% equity in the NA JV resulting in a gain of $48.4 million recognized in the first quarter of 2026.Adjusted Operating IncomeAdjusted operating income represents operating income on a US GAAP basis excluding (1) real estate charges (credits), (2) the impact on net revenues and compensation expense of the investment gains and losses (as well as the dividends and interest) associated with employee long-term incentive compensation-related investments,  (3) the equity compensation paid by EQH to certain AB executives, as discussed below, (4) retirement plan settlement (gain) loss, (5) acquisition-related expenses (income), (6) income (loss) related to our equity method investments, (7) AB Funds reimbursement (income) expense, (8) interest on borrowings and (9) the impact of consolidated company-sponsored investment funds.Real estate charges (credits) incurred have been excluded because they are not considered part of our core operating results when comparing financial results from period to period and to industry peers. However, beginning in the fourth quarter of 2019, real estate charges (credits), while excluded in the period in which the charges (credits) are recorded, are included ratably over the remaining applicable lease term.Prior to 2009, a significant portion of employee compensation was in the form of long-term incentive compensation awards that were notionally invested in AB investment services and generally vested over a period of four years. AB economically hedged the exposure to market movements by purchasing and holding these investments on its balance sheet. All such investments had vested as of year-end 2012 and the investments have been delivered to the participants, except for those investments with respect to which the participant elected a long-term deferral. Fluctuation in the value of these investments is recorded within investment gains and losses on the income statement. Management believes it is useful to reflect the offset achieved from economically hedging the market exposure of these investments in the calculation of adjusted operating income and adjusted operating margin. The non-GAAP measures exclude gains and losses and dividends and interest on employee long-term incentive compensation-related investments included in revenues and compensation expense. The board of directors of EQH granted to Seth P. Bernstein, our CEO, equity awards in connection with EQH's IPO. Additionally, equity awards were granted to Mr. Bernstein and other AB executives for their membership on the EQH Management Committee. These individuals may receive additional equity or cash compensation from EQH in the future related to their service on the Management Committee. Any awards granted to these individuals by EQH are recorded as compensation expense in AB's consolidated statement of income. The compensation expense associated with these awards has been excluded from our non-GAAP measures because they are non-cash and are based upon EQH's, and not AB's, financial performance. The (gains) losses associated with the termination of our defined benefit retirement plan are non-cash, short term in nature and not considered a part of our core operating results when comparing financial results from period to period.Acquisition-related expenses (income) have been excluded because they are not considered part of our core operating results when comparing financial results from period to period and to industry peers. Acquisition-related expenses (income) include professional fees, the recording of changes in estimates or fair value remeasurements to, and accretion expense related to, our contingent payment arrangements associated with our acquisitions, certain compensation-related expenses and amortization of intangible assets for contracts acquired. We also adjust operating income to exclude exclude our portion of the equity income or loss associated with our equity method investments, including our investment in the JVs and reinsurance sidecars, as we don't consider this activity part of our core business operations and these investments generate non-cash volatility which distort core earnings performance. Effective April 1, 2024 following the close of the transaction with SocGen, we record all income or loss associated with the JVs as an equity method investment income (loss). As we no longer consider this activity part of our core business operations and our intent is to fully divest from both joint ventures, we consider these amounts temporary, and as such, we exclude these amounts from our adjusted operating income. The prepaid consideration received was in excess of the carrying value of the 17.7% equity in the NA JV resulting in a gain of $48.4 million recognized in the first quarter of 2026.During the first quarter of 2025, we identified an error in the billing practices of a third-party service provider, who had over billed certain AB mutual funds for omnibus account services, sub-accounting services, and related transfer agency expenses in prior years. In the second quarter, at the request of the mutual fund Board,  AB agreed to reimburse the affected funds for the entirety of the overpayment plus interest. During the third quarter of 2025, we resolved this matter with the service provider and recovered a portion of the overbilled amounts. We have adjusted operating income to exclude these amounts. We believe adjusting for these costs is useful for our investors and other users of our financial statements as such presentation appropriately reflects the non-core nature of this expenditure or recovery. We adjust operating income to exclude interest on borrowings in order to align with our industry peer group. We adjusted for the operating income impact of consolidating certain company-sponsored investment funds by eliminating the consolidated company-sponsored funds' revenues and expenses and including AB's revenues and expenses that were eliminated in consolidation. We also excluded the limited partner interests we do not own.Adjusted Operating MarginAdjusted operating margin allows us to monitor our financial performance and efficiency from period to period without the volatility noted above in our discussion of adjusted operating income and to compare our performance to industry peers on a basis that better reflects our performance in our core business. Adjusted operating margin is derived by dividing adjusted operating income by adjusted net revenues.

AllianceBernstein Holding L.P. (NYSE:AB) reported fourth-quarter adjusted earnings on Thursday that exceeded analyst expectations, while assets under management climbed to a record high, despite continued net client outflows. The investment management firm posted adjusted earnings of $0.96 per unit for the quarter, ahead of analyst forecasts of $0.92. Revenue reached $1.22 billion, well above the consensus estimate of $956.45 million. However, GAAP earnings per unit came in at $0.90, down 4.3% from $0.94 in the same period last year. The company’s shares slipped about 1% in premarket trading following the results announcement.“2025 marked a year of disciplined execution and strategic progress for AllianceBernstein as we broadened our platform and deepened client relationships,” said Seth Bernstein, CEO of AllianceBernstein. “Against a volatile macro backdrop weighing on client sentiment and net flows, we closed the year with a record $867 billion in assets under management.”AllianceBernstein recorded total net outflows of $4.7 billion during the fourth quarter. The institutional segment experienced $1.9 billion in outflows, while the retail channel recorded $3.5 billion in outflows. The private wealth division was the only segment to post positive flows, generating $0.7 billion in net inflows.Adjusted operating income for the quarter was $330 million, representing a 7% year-on-year decline. Adjusted operating margin fell to 34.5%, down from 36.4% in the same quarter last year. Revenue declined 2.7% year-on-year, primarily due to lower performance-based fee income. For full-year 2025, assets under management increased 9.4% to $866.9 billion, compared with $792.2 billion at the end of 2024. The increase was largely driven by market gains of approximately $86 billion, which more than offset net outflows totalling $11.3 billion.AllianceBernstein also declared a cash distribution of $0.96 per unit, scheduled to be paid on March 12, 2026.AllianceBernstein Holding stock price

1 The adjusted financial measures represent non-GAAP financial measures. See page 14-15 for reconciliations of GAAP Financial Results to Adjusted Financial Results and pages 16-18 for notes describing the adjustments.  Bernstein elaborated: "Retail demand softened in 2025, interrupting two years of consecutive organic growth, with the channel posting $9.1 billion net outflows. Active equity net outflows totaled $11.8 billion while taxable fixed income recorded $5.5 billion net outflows, driven by overseas redemptions. Tax-exempt fixed income extended its record of uninterrupted organic inflows to 13 consecutive years, growing 23% organically in 2025. Retail alternatives/multi-asset attracted $1.4 billion net inflows, supported by continued traction in Asia-Pacific. Institutional demand improved versus prior-year, with net outflows of $4.6 billion in 2025, or $0.6 billion excluding the RGA-EQH reinsurance transaction. Institutional alternatives/multi-asset registered $7.9 billion net inflows, reflecting accelerated private markets deployments and helping offset net redemptions across other asset classes. Our institutional pipeline AUM stood at $19.7 billion and is positioned to grow by an additional $3 billion as we expand our strategic insurance partnerships. We also continue to strengthen our partnership with Equitable as we expand our commercial mortgage loan capabilities and expect to onboard more than $10 billion of incremental general account assets by the end of 2026. Bernstein Private Wealth delivered its fifth consecutive year of positive flows, generating $2.4 of net inflows and 6% net-new-asset growth in 2025, driven by record advisor productivity and continued market share gains within the ultra-high-net-worth client channel."In conclusion, Bernstein remarked, "With a constructive 2026 growth backdrop but elevated political and macroeconomic uncertainty, we remain focused on high-quality security selection and disciplined capital deployment. Supported by our long-term perspective, increasingly diversified business mix, and proven execution capabilities, we are confident in our ability to capture compelling opportunities and deliver durable value for clients, unitholders, and stakeholders."  The firm's cash distribution per Unit of $0.96 is payable on March 12, 2026, to holders of record of AB Holding Units at the close of business on February 20, 2026.Market PerformanceGlobal equity and fixed income markets were up for the fourth quarter and up for the full year of 2025.

Management principally uses these non-GAAP financial measures in evaluating performance because we believe they present a clearer picture of our operating performance and allow management to see long-term trends without the distortion caused by long-term incentive compensation-related mark-to-market adjustments, acquisition-related expenses, interest expense and other adjustment items. Available Cash Flow typically is the adjusted diluted net income per unit for the quarter multiplied by the number of units outstanding at the end of the quarter. Management anticipates that Available Cash Flow will continue to be based on adjusted diluted net income per unit, unless management determines, with concurrence of the Board of Directors, that one or more adjustments made to adjusted net income should not be made with respect to the Available Cash Flow calculation.US GAAP EarningsRevenuesFourth quarter 2025 net revenues of $1.2 billion decreased 3% from $1.3 billion in the fourth quarter of 2024. The decrease was primarily due to lower performance-based fees, partially offset by higher investment advisory base fees and higher distribution revenues.Full year 2025 net revenues of $4.5 billion increased 1% from 2024. The increase was primarily due to higher investment advisory base fees and higher distribution revenues, partially offset by the Bernstein Research Services deconsolidation, lower performance-based fees and higher investment losses.ExpensesFourth quarter 2025 operating expenses of $915 million decreased 3% from the $940 million in the fourth quarter of 2024. The decrease was driven by lower employee compensation and benefits expense and general and administrative ("G&A") expense, partially offset by higher promotion and servicing expense. Employee compensation and benefits expense decreased primarily due to lower incentive compensation, partially offset by higher base compensation, commissions and fringe benefits. G&A expenses decreased primarily due to prior period settlement losses related to the retirement plan in 2024, lower charitable contributions, lower office and related expenses, partially offset by higher professional fees. Promotion and servicing expense increased due to higher distribution related payments and amortization of deferred sales commissions, partially offset by lower transfer fees.Full year 2025 operating expenses of $3.5 billion increased 4% from the $3.4 billion in 2024. The increase was primarily driven by a prior period contingent payment arrangement gain and higher promotion and servicing expense, partially offset by lower G&A expense, lower employee compensation and benefits expense and lower interest on borrowings. The prior period contingent payment arrangement gain was recognized in connection with the fair value adjustment related to our contingent payment liability associated with our acquisition of AB CarVal in 2022. Promotion and servicing expense increased due to higher distribution related payments and higher amortization of deferred sales commissions, partially offset by lower trade execution and clearance costs resulting from the Bernstein Research Services deconsolidation. G&A expenses decreased primarily due to lower office-related expense driven by our early exit from our previous New York office location in 2024, and lower professional fees, partially offset by a one time gain in the prior year related to the recognition of a $20.8 million incentive grant received in connection with our headquarters relocation to Nashville, Tennessee, a retirement plan settlement loss and an AB Funds reimbursement expense related to a disputed billing practice of a third-party service provider. Employee compensation and benefits expense decreased primarily due to lower incentive compensation and lower base compensation, partially offset by higher commissions.Operating Income and Net Income Per UnitFourth quarter 2025 operating income of $309 million decreased 3% from $318 million in the fourth quarter of 2024 and operating margin of 25.1% increased 10 basis points from 25.0% in the fourth quarter of 2024.Full year 2025 operating income of $1.1 billion decreased 7% from 2024, and operating margin of 23.0% decreased 170 basis points from 24.7% in 2024.Fourth quarter 2025 net income per Unit was $0.90 as compared to $0.94 in the fourth quarter of 2024.Full year 2025 net income per Unit was $2.97 as compared to $3.71 in 2024.Non-GAAP EarningsThis section discusses our fourth quarter and full year 2025 non-GAAP financial results, compared to the fourth quarter and full year 2024 financial results. The phrases "adjusted net revenues", "adjusted operating expenses", "adjusted operating income", "adjusted operating margin" and "adjusted diluted net income per Unit" are used in the following earnings discussion to identify non-GAAP information.Adjusted RevenuesFourth quarter 2025 adjusted net revenues of $957 million decreased 2% from $973 million in the fourth quarter of 2024. The decrease is primarily due to lower performance-based fees and lower investment gains, partially offset by higher investment advisory base fees.Full year 2025 adjusted net revenues of $3.5 billion remained flat from 2024. Investment advisory base fees increased, offset by decreases in Bernstein Research Services revenue due to the deconsolidation, performance-based fees, investment gains, net dividend and interest income and other revenues.Adjusted ExpensesFourth quarter 2025 adjusted operating expenses of $627 million increased by 1% from $619 million in the fourth quarter of 2024. The increase was primarily driven by higher employee compensation and benefits expense. Employee compensation and benefit expense increased due to higher base compensation, commissions and fringe benefits, partially offset by lower incentive compensation.Full year 2025 adjusted operating expenses of $2.3 billion decreased by 2% from $2.4 billion in 2024. The decrease was driven by lower G&A and promotion and servicing expense, partially offset by higher employee compensation and benefits expense. G&A decreased primarily due to lower office-related expense primarily driven by our early exit from our previous New York office location in 2024, lower portfolio services and related expenses and lower other taxes, partially offset by a prior year recognition of a $20.8 million incentive grant received in connection with our headquarters relocation to Nashville, Tennessee. Promotion and servicing expenses decreased primarily due to lower trade execution costs driven by the Bernstein Research Services deconsolidation. Employee compensation and benefit expense increased due to higher commissions, partially offset by lower incentive compensation and base compensation.Adjusted Operating Income, Margin and Net Income Per UnitFourth quarter 2025 adjusted operating income of $330 million decreased 7% from $354 million in the fourth quarter of 2024.
We also adjust for certain pass through costs associated with the transition of services to the JVs entered into with Societe Generale ("SocGen"). These amounts are expensed by us and passed to the JVs for reimbursement. These fees do not affect operating income, as such, we exclude these fees from adjusted net revenues. We adjust for the revenue impact of consolidating company-sponsored investment funds by eliminating the consolidated company-sponsored investment funds' revenues and including AB's fees from such consolidated company-sponsored investment funds and AB's investment gains and losses on its investments in such consolidated company-sponsored investment funds that were eliminated in consolidation.Adjusted net revenues exclude investment gains and losses and dividends and interest on employee long-term incentive compensation-related investments. Also, we adjust for certain acquisition related pass through performance-based fees and performance related compensation. We also adjust net revenues to exclude our portion of the equity income or loss associated with our equity method investments, including our investment in the JVs and reinsurance sidecars, as we don't consider this activity part of our core business operations and these investments generate non-cash volatility which distort core earnings performance. Effective April 1, 2024, following the close of the transaction with SocGen, we record all income or loss associated with the JVs as an equity method investment income (loss). As we no longer consider this activity part of our core business operations and our intent is to fully divest from both joint ventures, we consider these amounts temporary and as such, we exclude these amounts from our adjusted net revenues.Adjusted Operating IncomeAdjusted operating income represents operating income on a US GAAP basis excluding (1) real estate charges (credits), (2) the impact on net revenues and compensation expense of the investment gains and losses (as well as the dividends and interest) associated with employee long-term incentive compensation-related investments, (3) the equity compensation paid by EQH to certain AB executives, as discussed below, (4) retirement plan settlement (gain) loss, (5) acquisition-related expenses (income), (6) income (loss) related to our equity method investments, (7) AB Funds reimbursement (income) expense, (8) interest on borrowings and (9) the impact of consolidated company-sponsored investment funds.Real estate charges (credits) incurred have been excluded because they are not considered part of our core operating results when comparing financial results from period to period and to industry peers. During the three months ended September 30, 2024 we recognized a gain of $128.5 million in the condensed consolidated statement of income related to a fair value adjustment of the contingent payment liability associated with our acquisition of AB Carval in 2022. The fair value adjustment was due to updated assumptions of future performance associated with the liability. We also adjust operating income to exclude our portion of the equity income or loss associated with our equity method investments, including our investment in the JVs and reinsurance sidecars, as we don't consider this activity part of our core business operations and these investments generate non-cash volatility which distort core earnings performance. Effective April 1, 2024, following the close of the transaction with SocGen, we record all income or loss associated with the JVs as an equity method investment income (loss). As we no longer consider this activity part of our core business operations and our intent is to fully divest from both joint ventures, we consider these amounts temporary and as such, we exclude these amounts from our adjusted operating income.During the first quarter of 2025, we identified an error in the billing practices of a third-party service provider, who had over billed certain AB mutual funds for omnibus account services, sub-accounting services, and related transfer agency expenses in prior years. In the second quarter, at the request of the mutual fund Board, AB agreed to reimburse the affected funds for the entirety of the overpayment plus interest. During the third quarter, we resolved this matter with the service provider and recovered a portion of the overbilled amounts. That was a nice rebound yesterday from those recent $32 lows we saw.

Hi BG,
There's been nice accumulation since the start of August.
https://schrts.co/CAmjDWeD

It still needs to climb a bit before I'll do any inventory reduction.

AB has been in recovery since my last purchase. It's not yet risen enough to trigger a distribution of shares but is getting closer.

I've collected a stream of dividend payments along the way (which are not shown in the above "cash" segments).

My three goals when I started this investment were:
1) Price Appreciation over Time
2) Dividend Capture over Time
3) Volatility Capture over Time

AB has delivered nicely so far.

Best wishes,
OAG Tom

I added an extra 12% to my position today at $33.55.

Effective yield = 11+%/yr at that price.

Robert Lichello's AIM - The perfect Portfolio Gyroscope.....

Example:

Some might say to start with these three objectives:
1) Price appreciation over time
2) Dividend capture over time
3) Profitable Volatility capture over time.
These are not mutually exclusive goals. Once the objectives are defined you then need gyroscopic precision to keep on target. Yes, there will be times when conditions will try to knock you off course. That's where the portfolio gyroscope will come in handy.
Best wishes,
OAG Tom
PS: Note the common feature of all three objectives - TIME...

Effective Yield is above 10% again now with the share price under $38. That seems like it justifies shifting some reserve cash back over to owning more shares. Order is in GTC at a limit of $37.45 to add 12% more shares to my position.

Best wishes,
OAG Tom

My Lichello investment management model had me repurchase shares for the account on Tuesday. It was the first restocking since starting this investment during the Covid meltdown.

There's still quite a bit of cash left in reserve for this holding should the price/share decline further. The current yield at this price is over 9%/yr. That's slightly better than MMFs!

Best wishes,
OAG Tom

I let an additional 5% of my AB shares go yesterday at $53.08. It's been a very nice run recently and the cash reserves are now very healthy for any future buying that might be indicated.

Best wishes,

Hi N,
Here we are at $51 and the effective yield is still ~6.6%.

I'm pretty happy. My kids are pretty happy, too, since they both own AB as well.

AB continues to throw off healthy dividends on a quarterly basis while the price/share continues to climb. Today's high of $49.55 gives me a healthy cap gain overall plus the accumulated dividends since starting this holding on March 25, 2020.

Best wishes,

Last Friday AB triggered my GTC Limit order to sell 5% of my position at $29.90.

This AM it was up again nicely at above $33 briefly.

AB's now less than 1% away from my next Sell price for 10% of the remaining shares. Price is now up ~60% from where I re-started this holding in late March.

After starting my position in AB at $18.60 back on 03/25/2020 the price/share rose enough for me to take my first profits yesterday at $23.24. That's close to a 25% LIFO turn on the shares sold. While the yield is now currently around 11% it was around 15% when the position was started.

Taking profits now will help to offset the yield that would have been gained if I'd waited a year. I now have cash available to repurchase shares should we see a W bottom in the price per share. I still have 90% of the starting position should the price continue to rise.

AB certainly presented a compelling argument for stock ownership in recent days. The Price/Book Value dropped well below 1.0, Yield hit 15+% as the stock price fell by around 50%.
I added substantially to my existing holding (taxable) and tossed out a stock in my IRA and used the proceeds to buy AB inside that account as well.
I see this hasn't been a very active thread but maybe some value investors will show up here.

AllianceBernstein Sees Decade-High Jobless Rate Spurring RBA Cut

By Candice Zachariahs & Benjamin Purvis - Apr 22, 2013 1:00 AM MT.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-04-22/alliancebernstein-sees-decade-high-jobless-rate-spurring-rba-cut.html?cmpid=yhoo

AllianceBernstein Holding LP (AB), which manages $437 billion of assets, expects Australia’s central bank to lower interest rates by as much as 50 basis points this year as the jobless rate rises toward its highest in a decade.

The nation’s currency, which has remained above $1 for a record stretch, will decline as benchmark rates fall and an unprecedented mining investment boom ebbs, Guy Bruten, a senior economist for the Asia Pacific region, said at a briefing in Sydney today. Annual growth in China, Australia’s largest trading partner, will slow to 7.5 percent on average for the rest of this decade, he said.

“It’s still likely that we’ll see one or two interest-rate cuts this year,” Bruten said. “As this story plays out, with the non-mining sector not accelerating fast enough to take up the slack and as the unemployment rate starts to shift higher, I think that provides the trigger for more rate cuts.”

The jobless rate will probably rise about 1.5 percentage points over 18 months from the 5.6 percent rate seen in March as sectors sensitive to the resources boom begin to shed positions, he said. A 7.1 percent unemployment rate would be the highest since October 2001.

Swaps traders are predicting 39 basis points of cuts over 12 months to the Reserve Bank of Australia’s 3 percent benchmark, according to a Credit Suisse Group AG index. There is a 53 percent chance that the rate will be reduced to a record- low 2.75 percent at the June 4 meeting, Bloomberg calculations show.

Fair Value

AllianceBernstein estimates the fair value for the Australian dollar near the mid-80 U.S. cent range, though Bruten said it probably won’t trade down to that level by year-end.

“That’s the direction we’ll be going, whether it’s this year or the end of next year, an Aussie dollar in the 80s seems to be a reasonable forecast,” he said.

The currency bought $1.0282 as of 4:57 p.m. in Sydney, after falling 2.2 percent last week in its biggest decline since May.

In China, “there’s a great reluctance to try to go for growth at any cost,” said Bruten. The market will have to adjust to a more-slowly growing China as policy makers take the nation’s 7.5 percent growth target seriously, he said.

The Standard & Poor’s GSCI Index of commodities dropped 2.3 percent on April 15 after Chinese data showed gross domestic product rose 7.7 percent in the first quarter from a year earlier, missing the median forecast for 8 percent growth, and slowing from 7.9 percent in the fourth quarter.

China’s slower expansion in the first quarter is “normal” as the world’s second-largest economy sacrifices growth to make structural reforms, People’s Bank of China Governor Zhou Xiaochuan said April 20.

“China’s undergoing economic restructuring, which sometimes is not in lockstep with growth,” Zhou said. “We need to sacrifice short-term growth for the purposes of reforms and structural adjustments.”
