Of first importance in terms of price is for JOBY to hold above the brown 50 period line and maintain the upward angle using it as support to push higher. Then making the top blue horizontal line support from strongest VbP market structure zone. Would not like price to drop below the lower blue line even if price wanders sideways in the zone. Ideally price makes the orange dotted BB midline (20period) support relatively soon. That is the optimistic upside reading. Total overall and especially more buy volume needs to show up.
Negative only comes into play if price confirms below the lower blue line IMO.
Let's see how price closes today and sets up for next week.

Something to keep in mind. IMO, Motley Fool put forth their article to tout and direct buying to their publications and money making subscriptions. There is so much they didn't cover and what they did was essentially negative. Other than maybe something I own gets a little boost from an MF article I haven't paid attention to them for investment advice in years and years. Anyone investing in this space should do their own indepth DD and have a firm grasp of all the dynamics and fundamentals, while evaluating their own risk. Emerging technologies always have bumps and hurdles.

Both articles ignore technical analysis as a vehicle to reduce risk or even create no cost shares, by trading around a core position.

The articles also don't address the financial commitments these companies have. JOBY for example has between current cash and commitments a total of over $1.3billion. They don't even mention the DoD market or foreign market opportunities.

MF wants followers and to be your advisor. Readers need to separate substance from salesmanship. Wheat from chaff.

Example: I live 55 miles from a major airport. With no traffic delays it takes 1 hour to get to the airport. JOBY from our small airport would substantially beat my drive time let alone parking time and parking fees hands down.

Very informative, indeed. All of the comments.

I just did some research n the FAA database and saw Lilium commented in a number of regulatory filings. Lilium went belly up? In December. But they were no where near JOBY or ACHR’s regulatory approvals. They had a long way to go.

So JOBY and ACHR are really the last two standing? Leaders in the EVTOL market?

Thanks for all the great thoughts and comments. [Posting on ACHR board as well.]

I get your points. However IMO there is airspace available. No runway needed. Can land from any direction.eVTOL terminals will not be interfering with commercial aircraft terminals. Altitude will not infringe on airport patterns. Noise reduction anytime they are operating. The need for non-polluting transportation will fuel the need. Many DoD needs. Border patrol movement. Usage viability in Middle Eastern countries is already in process. Sure there will be issues to navigate. However, need is always the driver of success. You mention fuel, insurance and maintenance. Are you sure eVTOL costs will be equal or greater. If gov wants this, the lanes will be priced to allow pathways. No need for eVTOL's to have the kind of spatial separation as aircraft.
Just a sample of the issues that will be worked out and situational advantages of eVTOL transportation.

It's nice to see opinions from someone who is a professional in the field, but it might be a little short sighted. Everyday more people and more cars, just from a general overview of the next 20 years something has to give. I'm in my mid 50's and I don't really seeing an air infrastructure in place in my lifetime but definitely in my 12 year old daughters lifetime. Not a question of if but when. I would hold your shares in whatever company you want in this sector, no where to go but up.

I just posted this at ACHR and it is relevent here as well:

So, I made a mistake. I bought a few shares, not much, and made a few bucks and sold. I forgot I had a buy order in at a lower price that I forgot to cancel and it executed. Dang. And now I am in it and losing a few bucks as I write this.

I am a private pilot and love the aviation world. I have known a couple of people in the aviation business and one time, when I was considering doing a small business venture with someone, I got the best advice from someone about it. He told me this: β€œIf you want to make a small fortune in aviation, start with a large one!”

I believe these air taxi’s have limited income potential. John Doe’s will never be able to afford them and there are only so many millionaires out there that will. They will be a novelty for some time but eventually, they will be for the rich. And that market will be limited. Just like private air travel. I used to own a single engine plane and that field of aviation is dying because of cost. All of my pilot friend have almost, but not quite, quit flying. Why? Because a flight in their lanes cost at least 5x’s more than commercial. Not kidding. Fuel, insurance, maintenance. Yes, it is more fun and convenient. But. The money is ridiculous.

So, I will wait it out and when Archer and Joby get some good FAA news, I think we shall see a significant rise from where we are right now, and then I think many people will get out.

Maybe just venting at my stupidity, but these are my thoughts.

So far there is room for both IMO. Not really direct 1 to 1 competition yet IMO.
JOBY has more actual prototypes being tested and is further along in full certification process. Personally, I don't want a merger of the two. For JOBY, as long as continuing funding is solid, I would rather see them grow organically. Just my preference for bigger price multiples.

I agree, but I wouldn't be opposed to a buy out from Boeing or a merger with Archer. We got skin in the game on the ground floor so either way this will be good investment for the future.

Anyone watching (or invested in) both $JOBY and A*HR should be able to tell that A*HR controls this sector. $JOBY just follows it up and down like it's subservient. It's annoying!!! Need some news on progress of final phase of FAA cert, Japan, Delta, South Korea, and/or Dubai taxi hub. Better sooner than later with Boeing and others sniffing around!!! First to market is key!
Doesn't help the case that insiders keep selling more shares than they actually bought, while A*HR's insiders bought about 6X than they sold.

Ironic that so many are looking for the next huge winner and yet have no guts to buy disruptive technologies in their infancy. JOBY is still maintaining its lead in first to fully flight certify, has solid financial backing. Will it be the biggest winner? Hard to say for sure. IMO they will have a significant market share in a $multibillion sector.
Nothing beats deep DD and comparison DD. To buy without it is gambling.
Also, nothing says one can't hold or trade more than one stock in a sector. Lots of opportunity to invest/trade emerging technologies.

Here is what the internet concludes

"Reasons Insiders Sell Stock"

There are multiple reasons why insiders may sell company stock, and it’s important to understand the reasons for these sales before letting them impact your own decisions. According to a study conducted by the University of Oulu in Finland, the most common reason an insider may sell shares is diversification. When an insider’s net worth becomes overly concentrated in company stock, it may be time to trim. The Oulu study also found that insiders with highly concentrated portfolios β€œhave a higher propensity to sell their insider stocks” and β€œsell in larger trade sizes than insiders with less unbalanced portfolios.”

So far JOBY and ACHR have both been able to stay cash positive. Toyota and DOD have provided continuing funding with Toyota at the conclusion of the next promised $300million right at $1billion in investment. JOBY is already delivering on their DOD contracts. It is just a matter of ramping up production and how they go about it. The unknown for this sector will be supply chain issues that may or may not have an effect on JOBY deliveries. There is no question in available market for contracts. All IMO only.

Everyone should do their own DD. Investigating cash on hand, cash expected and burn rate should be a part of everyone's DD.

This eVTOL Startup Has Filed for Bankruptcy
The promised air taxi future appears to be slowly giving way to a robotaxi reality, but some investors remain confident.
By Jay RameyPublished: Jan 02, 2025 10:56 AM EST

Germany's Volocopter has entered insolvency proceedings in its home country after a number of successful prototype demos in recent months.
The startup's craft uses a large number of individual propellers arranged around an overhead ring structure, as in a hobby drone, while featuring a small helicopter-style cabin.
Air taxis in development are now thought to see a serious challenge from robotaxis, as driverless car tech spreads and becomes more affordable to scale.

As the eVTOL industry approaches a moment of truth, and a growing robotaxi market, those that have made it this far are now facing a difficult transition period.

Days after German eVTOL startup Lilium was able to find new investors to save itself at the last minute, another German eVTOL startup, Volocopter, has filed for insolvency proceedings.

"With one of the lowest burn rates in the industry, Volocopter has successfully operated in an extremely difficult financial environment," the company said in a statement. "However, despite recent intensive fundraising efforts, finding a viable solution to maintain regular operations outside of insolvency proceedings has not been possible." ...

Gov't to conduct flight demonstration of commercial-level air taxi model this week
Story by Chang Dong-woo β€’ 54m β€’ 1 min read

SEOUL, Dec. 13 (Yonhap) -- The transport ministry said Friday it will conduct a flight demonstration of a commercial-level air taxi model this week as part of a government project to introduce the urban air mobility (UAM) industry in the country.

The ministry will demonstrate the operation of the S-4 model built by U.S. electric aircraft manufacturer Joby Aviation Inc. at the Korea Aerospace Research Institute's aviation center in Goheung, about 330 kilometers south of Seoul, on Saturday.

The demonstration is part of the K-UAM Grand Challenge, a government-led demonstration program that will test UAM vehicle safety and traffic management capabilities for commercial services.

The deployment of the S-4, capable of carrying a pilot and up to four passengers, will mark the first use of a commercial-level UAM aircraft in the country.

The demonstration will include testing with UAM operational technologies, such as those involving flight management and air traffic, developed by a consortium formed by SK Telecom Co., Korea Airports Corp. and Hanwha Systems Co.

Could be. Depends on whether the midlines offer support or rollover and become resistance. If the fast ema's negatively stack downward as 4 is now attempting to down cross the 8 then that will weigh on price for further down. If that happens then 6.50ish comes into play. VbP says that price has entered a weak market structure zone. More data needed but targets are very useful if one is flexible.
Biggest question right now is whether 7.40's-7.50's hold as support.

Actually, I think there is more to it than that. Short interest has been there for many months/years. IMO the drop was sector wide and the magnitude increased because LILM the German company is shutting down, laying off and attempting to sell the eVTOL business. Add in the fact that both ACHR and JOBY were way overbought with strong negative divergences for retrace and the combination of all that plus negativity in articles for the short term and the sector is in correction mode. Anyone wishing to add shares will have a great opportunity IMO.

The eVTOL space is estimated at $1Trillion. There will be huge winners eventually. All IMO only.
As with any stock, buyers should do their DD and beware the external pressures. If one wants the closest possible to a sure thing buy CD's or some other stable financial instrument.

Why Joby Aviation Stock Is Sinking Today
Keith Noonan, The Motley Fool
Mon, December 2, 2024 at 1:19 PM EST

Joby Aviation (NYSE: JOBY) stock is falling in Monday's trading. The flying electric vehicle company's share price was down 10.2% as of 1 p.m. ET.

After an impressive rally, Joby Aviation's valuation is now falling as some investors are betting against the stock. Short-sellers are also placing bets against Joby's competitor Archer Aviation, and its stock is down 23.7% today as of this writing. Even with today's pullback, Joby's share price is still up roughly 65% over the last month.

Short interest on Joby Aviation stock is increasing
As early frontrunners in a speculative emerging industry, Joby Aviation and Archer Aviation have often seen their respective stocks make corresponding moves. In November, Needham published a bullish report on both companies and the broader flying taxi industry. Needham believes that the flying EV market is taking off and that key regulatory approvals will eventually arrive, paving the way for Joby and Archer to make the jump to product commercialization and rapid sales growth.
Needham's bullish coverage helped power explosive gains for Joby and Archer over the last month, but some investors are now betting that both stocks will start coming back down to earth. Short interest on both stocks has been rising, and the uptick in bearish momentum is likely causing other investors to take profits on the heels of massive rallies.

What comes next for Joby Aviation stock?
Over the long term, Joby Aviation's stock performance will be determined by whether or not the company receives regulatory approvals and successfully scales its vehicle production and marketing operations. While the company has a highly growth-dependent and speculative valuation, the outlook on the regulatory front is fairly promising. The company recently completed a test flight in Japan and has received substantial investment from Toyota Motor, and it's also recently been scaling up its operational footprint in Saudi Arabia.

On the other hand, investors should keep in mind that progress toward commercialization could proceed at an uneven pace -- and setbacks could potentially lead to big sell-offs for the stock. Joby's share price will likely continue to be highly volatile in the near term. In addition to fundamental business news and short-selling and short-covering, the company's stock could see big swings in conjunction with coverage from analysts and shifting macroeconomic indicators. Investors should approach the stock with the understanding that it is a high-risk, high-reward play in an emerging product category.

I will be watching these 3 steps first before thinking about 6's. Besides indicator cooling I will be watching for volume movement and money flow for keys to support or more down. Candles can add to the picture as well. So will be watching for signal candles and patterns.
Note on volume that green bars are still dominant. Monday action and close will tell a lot. All IMO only.

Are you thinking 6-7 range for consolidation?
