SAN JUAN
CAPISTRANO, Calif., Sept. 28,
2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- SallyAnne Grillo Artese shares the story of her
parents, who met as members of a middle-class aristocracy before
becoming refugees and peasant farmers in the Alps in her new book
"The Letters" (published by Archway Publishing)
When Grillo Artese's French
father met, fell in love, and married a young American woman, it
was before Germany invaded
France. In "The Letters" she uses
her mother's journal as well as her own memories to share their
life as her parents attempted to give their children a sense of
normalcy in a time of strife, privation and uncertainty. After the
war, they settled in the U.S., fashioning a whole new life and a
new set of challenges.
"At a time in history when we can do anything, be anyone we
choose to become, when so much of life is easy, convenient, and
plentiful, this gives us a different perspective of what it takes
to survive and thrive," Grillo
Artese says. She hopes that her parent's story will give
readers "a new appreciation for the life they enjoy."
