March 14 2011 - 6:40AM
Rated "Best Overall" in
Barron's Magazine's Annual Ranking of Online Brokerage Firms Over
23 Competitors Also Ranked Best for Frequent
Traders, Best Trading Technology and Best Customer Service and
Education
Barron's magazine has ranked TradeStation (Nasdaq:TRAD) the #1
online brokerage firm in its annual review of online brokerage
firms, now in its sixteenth year. TradeStation not only won for
"best overall broker," the biggest prize, but also won "best for
frequent traders," a confirmation of TradeStation's long-standing
reputation as the leading online brokerage for the active trader
market. TradeStation also scored the highest ratings in two
subcategories used to determine the winner – "Trading Technology"
and "Customer Service and Education." TradeStation was ranked
superior, overall, to 23 other online brokerages, including Charles
Schwab, E*Trade, Fidelity, Interactive Brokers, Lightspeed Trading,
Merrill Lynch's Merrill Edge, optionsXpress, Scottrade and TD
Ameritrade/thinkorswim.
This year, Barron's paid special attention to what firms have to
offer wealthy, active traders like a Barron's reader.
According to the article, "[f]rom what we know, Barron's readers
tend to have a portfolio topping $1 million and trade on average 42
times a year; they also have several brokerage accounts. We've
tried to keep that audience in mind in providing information. We
evaluated these firms across eight categories, evaluating what can
be traded online, how the tools work together across platforms,
their educational offerings and customer service, and the nuts and
bolts of placing and executing a trade, among other items."
About TradeStation, Barron's said, "You can...trade just about
everything in this powerful, downloadable software platform. The
program gives you the ability to create your own trading system
based on a variety of technical and fundamental data, and then test
it using several decades' worth of clean data." Barron's also
mentioned some of TradeStation's recent achievements that enhanced
its offering, including the launch of TradeStation 9.0, the next
generation of its trading platform, TradeStation Strategy Network,
a marketplace for trading and analysis tools designed to work with
TradeStation, enhanced trader-education programs, including
numerous online webinars and in-person events, the offering of
international markets, specifically the firm's recent release of
Eurex execution, two technology acquisitions, the Grail System and
Portfolio Maestro, to further enhance the software's strategy
building and back-testing functions, and the firm's commission
pricing flexibility in offering customers the choice of per-share
or per-trade pricing.
Barron's summed it up by saying, "This is a broker for the
advanced active trader."
"To be named the best there is by Barron's is a great honor for
our company," said Salomon Sredni, Chairman and CEO of TradeStation
Group. "We compete for very active traders who require
advanced analysis, superior speed, high-quality data and execution,
automated trading, and low commissions. We also compete for serious
traders and investors who need a wide variety of trading, scanning,
and testing tools. Both types of traders can and do use
TradeStation to elevate their trading. As our top ranking for
best customer service and training indicates, we are committed to
meeting each active and serious trader at his or her level, and
giving them the tools they need to get to the next level. We
appreciate this recognition by Barron's, for which our employees
deserve the credit. It is their dedication and hard work that made
this possible."
