ZURICH—LafargeHolcim Ltd. on Wednesday reported weaker-than-expected third-quarter sales in its first results since the cement and building materials giant was created earlier this year.

The Jona, Switzerland-based company said sales fell to 7.83 billion Swiss francs ($7.71 billion) in the three months to Sept. 30 from 8.57 billion francs a year earlier, missing analyst forecasts of 7.95 billion francs.

The company said its operating profit before interest, depreciation and amortization fell to 1.64 billion francs from 1.95 billion francs a year earlier. This figure was slightly below analyst expectations of 1.7 billion francs.
