Zambezi Nickel Appoints New Board Director
Zambezi Nickel Limited ("Zambezi" or the "Company") (AIM Code: ZNI), the
AIM-quoted African nickel exploration and development company, today announces
that Hakainde Hichilema has been appointed to the board of directors.
Hakainde Sammy Hichilema, age 43, was educated in Zambia and the United Kingdom
and has trained in strategic business management and finance. For many years, he
has been involved in corporate advisory work, covering business divestiture,
development and restructuring transactions involving blue-chip multinational
organisations. Since 1998, Mr Hichilema has been the CEO of Grant Thornton
Zambia (formerly Coopers & Lybrand), a leading international professional
services firm providing corporate finance, accounting, auditing, corporate
recovery, management consultancy and tax advisory services.
As part of services provided by Mr Hichilema in the placing, offer and admission
of the Company to AIM on 31 October 2005, Mr Hichilema was issued with 150,000
convertible preference shares in the share capital of the Company. These
preference shares converted into 150,000 ordinary shares of 1p each ("Ordinary
Shares") at admission, which currently represents 0.45% of the Company's issued
Ordinary Share capital. Mr Hichilema does not have any other interests in
Ordinary Shares of the Company.
Commenting on the announcement, Paul Rankine, CEO of Zambezi said:

assist the strategy to fast-track our regional nickel prospects into
development."
Mr Hichilema is currently a director of the following companies:
Barclays Bank (Zambia) plc, Sun International (Zambia) Ltd, Media Trust Fund,
Export Development Programme II, SEEDCO (Zambia) Ltd, Zambia Investment Board,
Greenbelt Fertilizers Ltd, Midlands Car Hire Ltd, Mint Master (Zambia) Ltd,
African Life Financial Services (Zambia) Ltd, Menel Management Services Ltd,
Agro Support Ltd, Westlake Investments Ltd, Savanna Com Ltd, CR Kapenta Ltd and
Farmnet Zambia Ltd.
In the past five years, Mr Hichilema has been a director or partner of the
following companies:
African Trade Insurance, MR Nickel Ltd and Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines
(Smelterco) Ltd
There are no other disclosures required under Schedule Two (g) of the AIM rules.
