MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.,
April 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/
-- MobileIron (NASDAQ: MOBL), the security backbone for the
digital enterprise, today announced an integration with the
Department of Defense's (DoD) instantiation of Derived Credentials
known as "Purebred." Purebred enables the DoD to take full
advantage of mobility by eliminating the need for common access
cards (CAC) to authenticate mobile identity.
"By integrating with Purebred we allow DoD entities to use these
credentials in a streamlined, mobile-first way," said Sean Frazier, Chief Technical Evangelist,
MobileIron. "Our derived credentials solution ensures the highest
levels of security without compromising the employee's user
experience. Passwords and CAC sleds are antithetical to mobility
and delivering this capability is an important step forward in a
truly fluid, mobilized workforce."
MobileIron's derived credentials solution lets government
agencies can extend their existing security investments in PKI
& Common Access Cards (CAC), to give mobile devices secure
access to agency resources without requiring employees to use
additional hardware like sleds or smart card readers. Derived
credentials allow organizations that are using smart cards for
authentication to easily extend this technology to mobile devices,
providing strong, password-less authentication to the most
sensitive of resources. Using derived credentials, government
agencies can create a productive mobile first environment without
compromising security.
The solution is compliant with government regulations and
security standards such as Homeland Security Presidential
Directive-12 (HSPD-12), Federal ICAM initiatives, FIPS 201 and NIST
SP:800-157.
