China Eastern Airlines Becomes Third Major Asian Carrier to Select
Sabre Airline Solutions Scheduling Suite Selection Extends Asia
Preference for Sabre Airline Solutions State-of-the-Art Multi-User
Scheduling Solution; New Contract in Addition to Comprehensive
Airline Operations Centre Implemented Earlier This Year SOUTHLAKE,
Texas, Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Sabre Airline Solutions today
announced China Eastern Airlines has selected AirFlite Schedule
Manager to manage its flight schedules and improve its
profitability across all regional, short haul and long haul routes.
Becoming the third Asian airline this year (after Singapore
Airlines and Qantas Airways) to implement the new multi-user
scheduling solution, China Eastern is also one of 13 airlines
across Asia -- including the four major China/Hong Kong-based
carriers -- to select the industry's leading scheduling
application. The deal therefore confirms Sabre Airline Solutions
leadership across Asia/Pacific for flight scheduling solutions in
the world's fastest growing passenger market. The new solution --
based on an Oracle/Java platform -- is a powerful flight scheduling
system with comprehensive tools to help accomplish specific
scheduling tasks during all stages of the schedule development
process. AirFlite Schedule Manager also allows senior management to
evaluate strategic scenarios such as fleet planning, code share
partners and new destinations. The system provides schedulers with
the ability to view the schedules in any number of ways. AirFlite
Schedule Manager enables the quick allocation of appropriate
capacity according to customer demand or during short-term
disruptions -- an essential requirement in today's ever changing
aviation environment. "In our drive to be a major player in the
Asian region, this solution will go a long way to boosting our
efficiency, tighten our accuracy and provide more decision support
in an increasingly competitive market," said Mr. Hu, Zhen Ming
China Eastern Airline Standing Deputy Director, Marketing and
Sales. "Overall, we expect to see our top line revenues increase by
between one and three percent. In today's challenging environment,
we must focus on proven solutions that deliver the desired result."
Sabre Airline Solutions has invested millions in the redevelopment
of its AirFlite suite to Java architecture, enabling better
usability, integration and decision support. The contract with
China Eastern Airlines is another sign of the continuing interest
in this 'state of art' application suite. Cameron Curtis, Sabre
Airline Solutions vice president for Asia Pacific commented that,
"the selection of Sabre AirFlite Schedule Manager allows decisions
to be made from an entire network perspective, not just from
individual routes. China Eastern will benefit from AirFlite ability
to maximize fleet management and profitability across all regional,
short haul and long haul routes for the airline. "No other vendor
can deliver such a comprehensive solution in the Asia Pacific
region." Curtis went on to say: "For us, this contract further
demonstrates Sabre Airline Solution's commitment to China Eastern
Airlines as well as to the airline industry in China." Sabre
Airline Solutions is the Asia Pacific market leader in aviation
technology and has experienced rapid growth in the region. More
