System will serve populations most at risk for poor
health.
MARKHAM, ON, Nov. 25, 2014 /CNW/ - Nightingale Informatix
Corporation ("Nightingale" or the "Company") (TSX-V:NGH), a
cloud-based provider of electronic medical record (EMR) software,
and the Association of Ontario Health Centres ("AOHC") today
announced that they have reached and exceeded their targets in
Canada's largest electronic
medical record (EMR) implementation project.
In 2012, the AOHC embarked on an initiative to deploy
Nightingale's cloud-based EMR solution to support its integrated
healthcare delivery model, which is especially effective for
serving people and communities whose health is most at risk.
Originally the goal was to deploy Nightingale in 73 Community
Health Centres throughout Ontario.
Because Aboriginal Health Access Centres and Nurse Practitioner-led
Centres also recognized the benefits of a centralized EMR, the
number of centres involved in the initiative has now grown to
90.
To date, 4,100 health providers, 1,271,042 clients and
61,823,212 client records have been successfully migrated to
Nightingale's EMR solution. The AOHC coordinated the
deployment which was completed on budget. Going forward,
Nightingale and AOHC will work together to launch a multilingual
EMR in the AOHC's six francophone Community Health Centres.
The EMR initiative will have a strong positive impact in
communities which are vulnerable to poor health. "Our member
centres provide integrated health services and programs to people
and communities whose health is most at risk," explains AOHC CEO
Adrianna Tetley.
"Nightingale's EMR solution will further enhance our integrated
approach and effectiveness. And because the same cloud-based
EMR system is being used by so many of our member centres, the data
it gathers greatly augments our province-wide quality improvement
efforts."
A unique attribute of Nightingale's cloud-based EMR solution is
that it can be used by multiple members of inter-professional
teams. Client records can be shared amongst nurses, physicians,
nurse practitioners, social workers, dietitians, health promoters
and community health developers. The system captures more than just
medical appointment information; it also shows an individual's
involvement in other types of health promotion activities like
workshops or group sessions. This information allows AOHC service
providers to make informed decisions and recommendations more
efficiently based on timely information and a holistic view of a
person's care.
"By launching and then coordinating this initiative, the AOHC
has demonstrated its visionary leadership in health care delivery.
We are proud to support their vision and mission with our market
leading EMR platform," said Sam
Chebib, president and CEO of Nightingale Informatix. "This
milestone could only be achieved by working as partners every step
of the way, at every level and we look forward to continuing to do
so with each new phase."
