September 26 2005 - 1:03PM
PR Newswire (US)
DULLES, Va., Sept. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Low-fare airline
Independence Air (NASDAQ:FLYi) is announcing new service aboard its
132- passenger Airbus A319 planes from Washington Dulles
International Airport to New York's LaGuardia International Airport
(LGA) beginning October 31, 2005. (Logo:

flight schedule will include two daily roundtrips, with departures
from Washington at 9:30am and 3:00pm and departures from LaGuardia
at 12:35pm and 5:15pm. Tickets for the new flights as well as
flights to all Independence Air destinations are available for sale
now at http://www.flyi.com(r/). Independence Air Chairman and CEO
Kerry Skeen said, "From the time we first launched service with
Independence Air in June of last year, customers have been telling
us that LaGuardia is their preferred airport in the New York metro
area. We've been listening. We're very excited to finally get
approval from the Department of Transportation to operate there,
and look forward to launching at the end of October." He added,
"While our initial schedule at LaGuardia will include two daily
roundtrips, we are hopeful to be able to receive authorization to
expand that number as time goes on." The new Airbus flights are
part of an overall strategic plan to reduce the total number of CRJ
departures throughout the Independence Air system, while increasing
total Airbus departures by serving more East Coast destinations and
fewer cities in the West. CRJ flights to two New York airports --
John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Stewart
International Airport (SWF) -- will be discontinued after October
30, 2005 just as the LaGuardia Airbus service begins. CRJ service
to three other airports -- Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
(CLE), Louisville International Airport (SDF) and Indianapolis
International Airport (IND) -- will also be discontinued on that
same date. Frequency adjustments will be made in a number of other
markets to decrease the total number of CRJ departures systemwide.
Independence Air is the low-fare airline that makes travel fast and
easy for its customers with a customer-first attitude, innovative
thinking and a willingness to challenge the status quo.
