At the end of the settlement date of September 30, 2015, short
interest in 2,299 Nasdaq Global MarketSM securities
totaled 8,608,257,302 shares compared with 8,594,269,209
shares in 2,296 Global Market issues reported for the prior
settlement date of September 15, 2015. The end-of-September short
interest represents 5.05 days average daily Nasdaq Global
Market share volume for the reporting period, compared
with 4.46 days for the prior reporting period.
Short interest in 724 securities on The Nasdaq Capital
MarketSM totaled 867,605,483 shares at the end of the
settlement date of September 30, 2015 compared
with 851,055,313 shares in 723 securities for the
previous reporting period. This represents 4.06 days average
daily volume, compared with the previous reporting period’s figure
of 5.71.
In summary, short interest in all 3,023
Nasdaq® securities totaled 9,475,862,785 shares at the
September 30, 2015 settlement date, compared with 3,019 issues
and 9,445,324,522 shares at the end of the previous reporting
