MONTREAL,
April 11, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ -
SNC-Lavalin (TSX: SNC) is pleased to announce that it has
officially signed a contract with Shriners Hospitals for Children
for the construction of its new Montreal hospital, including the procurement,
installation and commissioning of medical equipment. The new
hospital will replace the existing Shriners Hospital in
Montreal.
Officially known as Shriners Hospitals for ChildrenĀ® -
Canada, the hospital will
have eight stories, and be linked to the new Montreal Children's Hospital located
at the McGill University
Health Centre's Glen site, allowing the two facilities to share
services. It will have 22 single-patient rooms, four operating
rooms, a basic research and new clinical investigation unit,
ambulatory care services and rehabilitation services, including
physiotherapy and occupational therapy. The new building will be
more than twice the size of the existing facility, with a surface
area of approximately 20,500 square metres.
"We are very pleased to have been awarded a third key project in
Quebec's health care sector," said
Charles Chebl, Executive
Vice-President, SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. "This state-of-the-art
health care facility will be a true model of excellence
in pediatric orthopedics."

and pre-construction services for the project following an early
services agreement between SNC-Lavalin and Shriners in May of 2011.
Construction will begin in April
2013, and the project is expected to be completed in the
fall of 2015.
