SSE PLC (SSE.LN) said Thursday that it is assessing potential
changes to the commercial terms of the proposed merger between its
household-energy and services unit SSE Energy Services and Npower,
and it is likely the merger will be delayed beyond the first
quarter of 2019.
The company will provide an update on the progress of
discussions by mid-December and it won't provide further comment on
in the meantime, it said.
SSE said it has become apparent that some recent market
developments mean that the commercial terms associated with the
proposed merger will need to be reconsidered.
The U.K. monopoly watchdog gave the green light to the proposed
merger between SSE Energy Services and Npower on October 10.
