- The panel on Wednesday, May 25 entitled
Transitioning from “Space-to-Data” to “Space-to-Space” Commerce
will discuss the key companies that are creating the industry base
and infrastructure for commercial space services in orbit.
- The Space Tech Conference is the
premiere conference for space-related services and industries,
bringing together experts and industry leaders from NASA and
federal space organizations, the United States military, federal
contractors, and other space-related corporations.
John Serafini, Senior Vice President of Allied Minds and
co-General Manager of BridgeSat, will be speaking on the
Transitioning from “Space-to-Data” to “Space-to-Space” Commerce
panel at Space Tech Conference 2016
(www.spacetechexpo.com/conference) in Pasadena, California on
Wednesday, May 25. Serafini will discuss the commercialization of
space-related dual-use technologies originating from U.S. federal
research institutions as Allied Minds has been particularly active
in the development of a number of start-up companies which are
commercializing technologies relevant to low Earth orbit (LEO).
One of Serafini’s portfolio companies, BridgeSat, is developing
an optical communications network that offers secure delivery of
extensive data from LEO satellites at faster speeds, greater
resiliency, and at a lower cost point than traditional radio
frequency solutions. The system is designed to provide rapid and
secure transfer of high-volume data from satellites and high
altitude unmanned aerial vehicles while removing the barriers that
currently exist with RF spectrum for carrying large volumes of data
from space to the ground.
Serafini will be part of a panel that includes Christopher
Richins, Chief Executive Officer of RBC Signals; Tom McCarthy, Vice
President of Business Development for Motiv Systems; and Talbot
Jaeger, Founder and Chief Technologist of NovaWurks. The panel will
be moderated by Dave Barnhart, Chief Executive Officer and Founder
of Arkisys.
The goal of the annual Space Tech Conference is to explore the
business models and technologies that will enable the space
industry to deliver successful missions at lower cost.
