Pearson PLC (PSON.LN), said Wednesday that as at 1200 GMT on April 26, valid acceptances had been received in respect of a total 45,023,842 Education Development International PLC or EDI shares, representing 79.88% of the issued share capital of EDI, and said the Offer, has been extended to 1200 GMT on May 6

MAIN FACTS:

-This total includes acceptances received in respect of 17,091,460 EDI Shares representing 30.33% of the issued share capital of EDI which were subject to irrevocable commitments procured by Pearson.

-EDI Shareholders who wish to accept and have not yet validly accepted the Offer are urged to take action as soon as possible, and in any event by 1200 GMT on May 6.

-Pearson shares at 0835 GMT up 5 pence, or 0.44%, at GBP11.46, valuing the company at GBP9.31 billion.
