COSTA MESA, Calif.,
Aug. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Experian Data Breach Resolution, a leader in helping businesses
plan for and mitigate consumer risk following data breach
incidents, today released a collection of educational resources for
businesses with anecdotes and advice on how to prepare for and
manage a data breach. Compiled based on the company's history of
servicing some of North America's
largest data breaches, the initiative packages key learnings from
Experian's behind-the-scenes support of more than 2,000 client
breaches last year. This includes servicing clients across many
industry sectors, such as retail, healthcare and financial
services.
The resources were developed to help companies address the
reality that the overall rate of data breaches is not slowing down.
According to the Identity Theft Resource Center, there have already
been 404 data breaches in the United
States in 2014, which is a 20 percent increase over the same
period last year. The data breaches have exposed more than 11
million records1.
"There is no doubt a data breach is a significant issue
companies must prepare for and address as one of their highest
priorities," said Michael Bruemmer,
vice president, Experian Data Breach Resolution. "We want to ensure
businesses are equipped with current information and the resources
they need to plan ahead and know what steps to take when the
inevitable breach occurs."
