LONDON--Royal Dutch Shell PLC (RDSA.LN) said Thursday that the
Rosmari-1 well offshore Malaysia encountered more than 450 meters
of gas column, and said with more potential exploration planned
this is a positive indicator for the potential for the well.
"Rosmari-1 is a testament to our ability to successfully drill
and build understanding of new geology within our existing
exploration heartlands, adding value to our existing assets in
Malaysia," Andy Brown, Director Shell Upstream International
said.
"We are expanding and rejuvenating heartlands across our
exploration portfolio, including in Brunei, Australia and the Gulf
of Mexico," Mr. Brown added.
Rosmari-1 is located 135 kilometers offshore in Block SK318 and
was drilled to a total depth of 2,123 meters.
Shell B shares closed in London Wednesday at 2,384 pence valuing
the oil major at 152.05 billion pounds ($210 billion).
