AGM  STATEMENT



The Chairman of The Wensum Company plc, ("Wensum") Stuart Lyons CBE, made the
following statement at the company's Annual General Meeting today, Thursday 19th
June 2003:



"In his Chairman's Statement, with the preliminary results dated 29 April, my
predecessor Andrew Hughes said that Wensum could not be immune from the current
economic uncertainties and that the performance for the current year could fall
below the level of the year under review.  He reported that, after two months of
trading, group sales and profits were ahead of last year.



"The business climate has continued to be difficult in our main areas of
activity and the performance of the first two months has not been sustained.  It
is too early to forecast the results for the year with any degree of accuracy.
However, profits for the first half and full year are likely to fall below those
for last year's comparable periods."
