COLUMBUS, Ga., Nov. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Aflac, the
leading provider of voluntary insurance in the United States, proudly introduced its 2015
Aflac Holiday Duck today. The Company is also pleased that it will
once again partner with Macy's for another season of giving back to
the community. The plush duck, an annual collector's item, is a
popular gift that is sold at Macy's across the nation and online at
Aflacduckprints.com. As with every year since 2001, all the net
proceeds are being donated to the participating children's cancer
facility nearest to where it is purchased. More than 300 Macy's are
participating this year, which marks the 15th year that Aflac and
Macy's have teamed up for this important cause.
This year the Holiday Duck is in an especially helpful mood,
decked in the green garb of a Christmas elf with red trim. When you
squeeze his bottom, he will bellow his famous "Aflaaac", putting
smiles on faces for a great cause.
"In our 60th year as a company, after we recently
announced that we eclipsed $100
million in the fight against childhood cancer, there is no
better way to express our commitment to eradicating this terrible
disease than dressing up our iconic duck in an outfit that says, 'I
am here to help,'" Aflac Foundation President Kathelen Amos said. "Macy's has been with us
every step of the way in this journey and together, we are
confident that the outpouring of generosity of the season will move
us closer to our goal."
The Holiday Duck comes in two sizes. The six inch version is
priced at $10 and the 10 inch version
is listed at $15. Since 2001, more
than $3 million has been raised from
the sale of these warm, fuzzy tokens of happiness.
"The iconic Aflac Duck is a
must-have keepsake every holiday," said Amy Kule, group
vice-president of Macy's Parade & Entertainment Group. "Over
the course of our 15 year partnership, Macy's and Aflac have helped
to raise awareness and more importantly - valuable funds to help in
the fight against childhood cancer with the sale of this adorable
duck. We encourage all families to take one home this holiday
season."
As part of Aflac's comprehensive Duckprints campaign, the
company currently donates $2 to the
Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children's Healthcare of
Atlanta for any social activity on
Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag #Duckprints and
for every viewing of a Duckprints-related video on YouTube or the
other social channels mentioned above. As an added feature for
2015, Aflac created a new holiday-themed on-line game at
aflacduckprints.com. Each time the fun and festive game is
played; another $2 is donated to the
Aflac Cancer Center. There is also a QR code on the hangtag
of the holiday duck that links directly to the game.
In 1995, Aflac made childhood cancer its primary philanthropic
cause. People interested in finding out more can go to
Aflacduckprints.com, where they can not only purchase a holiday
duck or play our new game, but they can find out how to become more
involved with the mission.
