Swiss goods inspection company SGS SA (SGSN.VX) Thursday said it has acquired U.K.-based Roplex Engineering Ltd for an undisclosed sum.

MAIN FACTS:

--Roplex specialises in engineering support and test services for vapour recovery systems.

--It operates mainly in oil distribution terminals across the UK, supporting Vapour Recovery Units (VRU) which are designed to reduce the vapour emissions from fuels.

--Founded in 1990 and privately owned, Roplex employs 8 engineers and generated 2011 revenues in excess of GBP1.6 million.

--"I am very pleased with this acquisition", said SGS CEO Chris Kirk. "Roplex' services are complementary to our Oil, Gas & Chemicals Services offering in the UK and provides us with a platform on the South coast, which will further enhance our presence in this key market place," he said.
