MAIDENHEAD, England,
August 2, 2018 /PRNewswire/ --
SDL (LSE: SDL), a leader in global content management,
translation and digital experience, today announces that
Made-in-China.com, a leading b2b e-commerce platform connecting
buyers with Chinese suppliers, has selected SDL Enterprise
Translation Server (ETS) to translate its online store, which
offers over 30 million products to a global audience.
Since deploying SDL's state-of-the-art machine translation (MT)
platform earlier this year, Made-in-China.com has already
translated over 100 billion characters across 4 languages -
Spanish, Portuguese, French and Russian - rapidly localizing all
product-related content across 10 in-country online stores.
Owned by Focus Technology, Made-in-China.com has almost 14
million corporate customers in over 220 countries. The company's
translation team are responsible for localizing all product
descriptions, pricing and information. This can be a manual,
repetitive task, and given the number of products it offers, they
needed to find a less time consuming and costly way of translating
for their global audience. They also needed to ensure high quality
translations - any poor language would negatively impact SEO and
online performance.
"Demand for Chinese products shows no signs of slowing down.
There's an enormous opportunity for brands, yet engaging with
customers in their own language isn't always easy," said
Marcel Ning, Business Manager, Focus
Technology. "SDL has transformed the way we communicate to
customers. Its rich experience supporting many language pairs,
combined with its machine learning technology, makes SDL ETS ideal
for translating high volumes of information rapidly into any one of
our customer's languages."
Both Made-in-China.com and SDL worked closely to develop and
train a machine translation engine that would steadily increase the
quality of translations across all languages, helping to increase
customer engagement and SEO performance. Since working with SDL,
Made-in-China.com has reached 100,000 daily visitors to its online
stores.
"Made-in-China.com is an outstanding example of a Chinese brand
that stands out and has made a big impact globally. It has
customers in every country, and with that comes an incredible
amount of information that needs to be translated," said
Thomas Labarthe, Chief Revenue
Officer, SDL. "It can be an uphill struggle to keep up with
demands, and this is just one area where MT holds enormous
potential. We're truly excited to work with such dynamic company,
and look forward to helping them stand out even more in the years
to come."
SDL Enterprise Translation Server (ETS) includes
state-of-the-art Neural Machine Translation (NMT),
offering revolutionary technology for high quality machine
translation. SDL's superior MT engine has evolved from close
collaboration between MT developers and MT-savvy linguists and
translators across multiple industries and domains to fine-tune the
engine for even higher quality translations.
