Shares in Greatland Gold PLC rose Monday as its partner in the Havieron gold project in Western Australia, Newcrest Mining Ltd., plans to accelerate drilling activity.

Greatland, a U.K. mining company, said Newcrest is investigating the potential to start an exploration decline at Havieron by the end of this year, as well as the potential to achieve commercial production within two to three years from commencement of decline.

Shares in Greatland are up 6.3% at 5.15 pence, having earlier peaked at 5.35 pence.
