My.com Launches @my.com -- The Mobile-Only Email Service
New Email Service a Part of myMail, the Mobile App for Managing
Multiple Email Accounts
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 24, 2014) - My.com, a
subsidiary of Mail.Ru Group, announced a new, mobile-only free
email service with the @my.com domain name. Users can sign up for a
new email account address today via their iOS and Android
phones/tablets. @my.com email service does not require users to
create a password during registration -- an industry first in email
security.
As the world is growing increasingly mobile-centric, email
needed to be reinvented. With a mobile-only approach, the @my.com
email service is designed within My.com's myMail app, launched in
November 2013. Therefore, @my.com users get immediate mobile
communications coupled with instant, flexible push notifications
that are offered by myMail. Built for smartphones and tablets,
@my.com is always immediately available.
"Email began on the desktop and transferred to mobile without
much thought to how people use mobile devices. We looked at mobile
email with a fresh perspective, responding to users' need for a
flexible, secure and lightweight way to communicate via email,"
said Dmitry Grishin, Co-founder and CEO of Mail.Ru Group.
Stolen passwords, hacking, phishing are now things of the past.
My.com utilizes cutting edge mobile technology for secure access,
which is common in other mobile services such as instant messaging.
An email account is verified by entering an activation code sent to
the user's mobile phone. All email traffic through myMail is
encrypted as an additional security measure.
With a wide range of mobile email features, @my.com also offers
a large base of short, free email names. Additionally, @my.com
offers 150 GB of free email storage, which is 10 times more than
Google provides in Gmail.
According to Yesmail Interactive research, mobile-only email
viewers increased 64% during H2 2013. Hybrid viewership -- checking
emails on both desktops and mobile devices -- declined by nearly
40% quarter over quarter and 72% since Q2 2013. Desktop-only
viewers grew by just 5%.
People are moving to mobile systems that allow for personal,
instant notifications and constant interaction with family and
friends. Moreover, they are relying on their mobiles for immediate
access to email, which becomes the quickest way to reach
someone.
