PR Newswire (US)
DALLAS, March 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Tom Leppert, the Mayor of
Dallas, Texas, today announced that March 5th has been declared
Knoll Design Day in recognition of the opening of a new LEED
certified Knoll showroom in the Dallas Arts District. The
proclamation, printed below in full, also acknowledges the
commitment Knoll has made in service of the Dallas architecture and
design community with modern furnishings and accessories for the
workplace and home for the past 50 years. The new Knoll Dallas
showroom is located on the ground floor of One Arts Plaza, a new,
24-story mixed-use building that includes residential condominiums,
office and retail space, restaurants, art galleries and
entertainment venues, aligning it with the Knoll Dallas motto,
"Work, Life, World." At nearly 10,000 square feet, it features
soaring 18-foot ceilings and will provide enhanced resources to the
design community in Dallas, including new product displays for
office and residential furnishings, textiles and accessories. In
addition, Knoll Dallas is pending LEED-CI Gold certification from
the U.S. Green Building Council, an appropriate complement to the
ambitious environmental program at Knoll and its modern portfolio
of furnishings that inspire, evolve, and endure. All new Knoll
showrooms are targeted to achieve LEED certification. Commenting on
the proclamation by Mr. Leppert, Beth Goff, Dallas Regional
Manager, said: "It's an honor to be recognized by the Mayor for our
commitment to design excellence and sustainability. We look forward
to sharing our portfolio of modern furnishings with the Dallas
design and brokerage community and our corporate, government,
healthcare and academic customers." The Knoll Dallas showroom
features a range of workplace and residential products from Knoll,
KnollStudio, KnollTextiles and Knoll Luxe, including office
systems, seating, files and storage, tables and desks, wood
casegoods, textiles, and accessories. Spinneybeck leathers will
also be available. The design of Knoll Dallas follows a set of
principles established by Florence Knoll in the 1940s, when she
designed the first Knoll showrooms. Her reductive aesthetic
incorporated light, open spaces furnished with elegant woven
fabrics, furniture grouped for informal conversation, and brightly
colored wall panels. The full proclamation issued by Mayor Leppert
reads as follows: WHEREAS, since Knoll's founding in 1938 Knoll has
been recognized as a design leader worldwide; Knoll products have
been exhibited in museums, such as The Museum of Modern Art in New
York. WHEREAS, Knoll utilizes modern design to connect people with
their work, lives and their world; their commitment to work with
design and corporate communities in Dallas has led to environments
that inspire and endure; and WHEREAS, Knoll's five-decade presence
in the city of Dallas has been an integral part of the design
community by serving government, businesses, healthcare
organizations and educational institutions; and WHEREAS, Knoll has
recently made the commitment to relocate to One Arts Plaza in the
heart of the Arts District. NOW, THEREFORE, I, TOM LEPPERT, mayor
of the city of Dallas, and on behalf of the Dallas City Council, do
hereby proclaim March 5, 2009 as KNOLL DESIGN DAY in Dallas, Texas,
in recognition of the new Knoll LEED certified showroom in the
Dallas Arts District. About Knoll Since 1938, Knoll has been
recognized internationally for creating workplace and residential

workplace certification. Knoll is the contract furniture industry's
